I would have posted this yesterday when the first act of Joss Whedon's online musical series was available online except for the fact that it wasn't actually available for most of the day. All the fans (like me) who were lured in by the funny preview for the series were trying to view the first webisode, and too many curious eyes caused the site to slow to a halt.
Now it's working fine and it is my pleasure to announce that Act I of this funny, bizarre musical starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion is awesome. It's adorable and sweet and tons of fun to watch. The first few minutes of Dr. Horrible just talking to camera is a little slow, but once you get through that, there's a super-cute little musical number/love song set in a laundromat and the rest flows along nicely from there.
The only thing I'm not getting is why it's called "sing-along" when there's no real way to sing along (unless you watch a few times, I guess!). Tell me your thoughts below after watching the first act here. Enjoy!

i loved it, captain hammer makes me giggle, hehehe.
1I loved it too, so much that I bought it on iTunes. I thought it was adorable.
2It was very cute! NPH has become one of my favorite actors since seeing him as Barney on How I Met Your Mother, and Nathan Fillion is, of course, always awesome.
Bought the Season Pass on iTunes; can't wait for the next two parts!
3i love BARNEY... I mean Neil Patrick Harris.
4Loved this. I may have to get it on iTunes.
5So funny! Loved when Captain Hammer talks about his hair blowing in the wind!
6SO AMAZING
7i wish i had an ipod so i could buy it on itunes
i love nph, himym is one of the greatest shows on TV
Absolutely AWESOME! Joss Whedon does it again, and NPH and Captain TightPants are GREAT!
8Thanks for posting about this. "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" needs all of the attention that it can get!
9O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O, so cute!
My fave part, besides the laundromat song, we Dr. Horrible singing "Whatevvvver" over them singing!!!
10That is soo good. Thanks for posting this.
11Charming!
12Aw it's so charming and cute and wonderful. Can't wait for parts 2 and 3. I love that the hero is a huge tool, and the villain is the more likable one. "The world is a mess, and I just need to rule it!"
13I loved it! Really looking forward to the other acts.
14Fan-freaking-tastic! I loved it! I already know I'd buy it when it's out on DVD.
"I'm working with a vocal coach." I just love NPH more and more.
"Balls!"
15It's so shiny. I can't wait for the rest of it.
16I was definitely singing along with it all day!
17Balls! So amazingly creative and just all 'round fantastic...NPH is made for the Whedonverse...and I'm hoping he finds something else to work with Joss on (if they can add Nathan again too...BONUS!)
I had extremely high expectations for this...but as with all Whedon projects, it managed to surpass them by a mile. Music, lyrics, sets, costumes, dialogue, acting...sooo good. I've watched it more times than I'm willing to admit...but enough that it really has become a "sing-along" for me
18LOVED IT. NPH and the guy from Firefly/Serenity!! OH- NPH, he's a mac guy mmmmhmmmm
19Loved the video. Can't wait to see the rest!
20Act II is up and its far superior to Act I, although, yes, the laundry mat song about stopping the world is wonderful.
Joss Whedon once again proves himself to be a consummate musical writer.
I now wonder where I can get a PhD in horribleness . . .
21Loved it! Act II is soooooo good. Loved the PhD in Horribleness, too. But my fave part was The speech in the laundry room: The hammer is my penis!!!!!!!

23Oh no, it's over
.
24"I hate the homeless... ness that plagues this city!" Nathan Fillion is so freaking awesome. I don't know what to think of the ending... kind of depressing.
I just looked this up thanks to Best Week Ever!
25definitely going to have to watch that tonight (:
