I can't wait to see what comes out of Tim Burton's imagination when he applies it to the classic Alice in Wonderland story with his live-action/motion-capture (like the Beowulf animation, plus live actors) adaptation. But of course, even with Burton's creative genius, casting is still (almost) everything. So who could play the innocent young Alice who goes on such a trippy adventure?
Rumor has it a virtually unknown 23-year-old actress named Ryan Nikole Parker will take the role — though apparently Evan Rachel Wood was initially supposed to have it and she backed out.
Perhaps a fresh face will be perfect for this part, so there are no preconceived notions about what our new Alice will be like. But if you had your druthers, who could you see playing a Tim Burton-y Alice?

I was thinking younger ... like Abigail Breslin. Is it just me or does 23 seem a little too old to play Alice? Either way, I'm sure it will be good -- Tim Burton is creepy fantastic.
1I can't stand evan rachel wood so I'm glad she backed out or whatever. I've only seen one picture of this other girl, so i can't really tell how she'd do. Looks like she's done a fair bit of theater.
2I think I might prefer an unknown face. I don't really care much about the age thing.
3I think having a unknown actress would be great for this film!
4maybe an ethereal model like gemma ward. i could also see kristin stuart if she went blond again.
5How about the girl who was in the golden compass?
6I have no idea who could play this part but I can't wait for this movie! Tim Burton is amazing, but I will be disappointed if he picks Evan Rachel Wood. She annoys me to death, I barely tolerated her in Across the Universe.
7He should definately bring in a new face, and I agree with evalla that she should be on the younger side. I am SO pumped to see this!!
8I think Christina Ricci could pull it off.
9I thought the little girl that plays Luna Lovegood had the part...?
10My vote is for Tim Burton fav Christina Ricci too! She would totally rock as Alice.
11Argh, if only Heather Graham was younger, I think she'd be cool as Alice
Actually I think Mena Suvari would make a neat Alice. There is something a bit edgy about her I have always liked.
Age doesn't matter to much to me either. If anything, not making her too young would give the movie a delightfully wierd edge. And that is what I want when I watch Burton flicks!
Barring that, Chantal from ANTM's Cycle 9 immediately came to mind as an Alice-lookalike......but in her case she is probably way too tall! Or won't be able to act. But hey, she totally has the hair!

Anyways, new faces are cool too, just bring on some Burton movies!
12I vote for Kristen Stewart or Haley Bennett.
13Evanna Lynch!
14Now that people mentioned her, I think Evanna Lynch kind of looks like someone I would imagine being in a Tim Burton movie.
15You know the girl who played the bubble gum chewer in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (ye, I KNOW I'm horrible with names...)? To me, she would be perfect
16My first thought was Dakota Fanning.
17OMG, that is going to be AMAZING! Can't wait. My vote is for Christina Ricci, she would rock it!
18That's kind of old for Alice, isn't it? In the books she was only about seven years old.
19I am so glad that Mansons ____bucket isnt getting the part.
20I have to agree with Christina Ricci also! I think Evan Rachel Wood would have been great!! Dakota Fanning would work too unless Burton is going for an older audience.
21Kirsten Dunst.
22i don't care who it is as long as the movie is good.
23I was thinking younger at first so Abigail Breslin but shes a little too goody so maybe Dakota Fanning but if he goes for older then I think Christina Ricci....she can look really young with the right clothes/makeup
24Booo, Alice in Wonderland is my all time favorite story, and I don't like the idea of making it into a live action/motion capture style movie.
25On a side note, Did anyone else see the live action miniseries of Alice in Wonderland from 1985? It was my favorite growing up!
I would love it if Tim Burton used Allison Lohman from Big Fish, with his girlfriend, Helena Bonham Carter, as the Queen of Hearts, of course!
He likes to use actors he's worked with before, so I wouldn't be surprised if he offered the part to Allison.
26Amanda Seyfried from Mamma Mia
27I agree about using Dakota Blue Richards, the girl from the Golden Compass!
28So long as it's not Zooey Deschanel. Did anybody watch that Wizard of Oz turkey?
29Oh my...just made my mind reel. So many possibilities. Just wondering about all the other charachters since HBC was already mentioned as Queen of Hearts.
30i agree with who ever mentioned the lil girl who played Violet in Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
it should be great either way, cant wait to see the visuals.
31Yes, Christina Ricci would be awesome and possibly Amanda Seyfriend, if she proves she has the talent. I love everything Tim does, so I can't wait!
32If they are going older, I think Kristen Bell would be good.
33My vote is for Zooey Dechanel (spelling?) I think she has that innocent look and she could pull off being much younger
34Whoever it is, she has to come across as naive about her world and equally confused about the dream world she entered. I would really like to see an unknown from off the street. One who wasn't even looking for the role but somehow caught the eye of a casting agent.
35I don't know if she has the skills to carry a movie, but Evanna Lynch comes to mind when I think of a wide-eyed blonde that is sufficiently weird enough to star in a Tim Burton film.
36I love Tim Burton's films! I don't think he needs a mainstream actress I like the idea of Ricci, Lohman, and what about Jayne Wisner (Joanna from Sweeney Tood- she fits the descrip to a T)If Michelle Williams were younger she would be good for this...
37I think Evan Rachel Wood would have been great in that role! Too bad she backed out.
38I think Anna-Sophia Rob (sp?) would be wonderful for the part.
39For me, it really depends on the audience that he's going for.
But, I think AnnaSophia Robb would be fantastic either way. Plus, she's worked with him before.
I also agree with Christina Ricci and Mena Suvari.
I wonder who Helena Bonham Carter will be (hopefully the Queen of Hearts as said previously).
I'm so excited for this!! I love anything Tim Burton and I think he'll have an incredible take on it.
40Evanna Lynch would be perfect - and I think zany enough for a Tim Burton film.
41I agree that Evanna Lynch is a great suggestion...she's totally quirky enough for a Burton flick.
42Christina Ricci or Kirsten Dunst. But more importantly, who will Johnny Depp play?
43Oh god I hate Abigail Breslin and I so knew people would suggest her. She is just such an unfortunate looking child. I hope she grows into her features when she gets older.
I think they should pick the girl that was in Golden Compass.
44My first thought was who is HBC going to play because it seems if it is made by Burton she is in it and she fits so well in his movies and the queen would be a great part for her, as for Alice it really depends on if he goes by her being as young as she is in the story or if he makes her older. I think it would have to be Ricci and Johnny would play maybe the rabbit???
45I love Kristen Bell, I think she would be awesome.
46Since this is one of my all time favorite stories, I'm a little worried how it's going to go, but I have faith in Burton. Not sure who I would prefer as Alice, but I'm not horribly picky about what age they choose for her as long as the story doesn't vary too much.
I guess we'll have to see.
47Alison Lohman. I would love to see her play Alice. She was great in Big Fish & White Oleander.
48I think Rose Mcgowan would be PERFECT. A little old, a little too "busty" perhaps (Ok, so I was trying to avoid the word "sexy")?
But I think it would be pretty neat.
Christina Ricci would also be great in that role, but I definately see Rose Mcgowan there more.
49I know it's been said, but Evanna Lynch would be PERFECT! She's not too old and she has that odd, starry-eyed look Alice needs. She'd also fit in great with the Burton crowd!
