The Emmy nomination picture is really coming together now, thanks to the good folks over at Gold Derby. Yesterday, I shared what they dug up on the acting semifinalists in the drama categories, and now they've nearly rounded out their findings in the comedy categories (they have all the names but three of the lead comedy actors; I'll update when they release that info). As always, these lists aren't official-official, but Gold Derby knows its stuff.
So, that means it's time for another edition of SnubWatch: Who's the biggest omission from these lists? I'm a little surprised to see neither Becki Newton nor Michael Urie on the short lists, considering that their performances were often the funniest parts of Ugly Betty this season. Perhaps if my "More Marc and Amanda!" cries had been heeded earlier, voters could have seen their brilliance?
One observation: Overall, the comedy categories still draw very heavily from network TV, whereas half the actors in every drama category came from cable shows. I wonder if that will change in future years. Showtime has already announced a couple of new comedies in development, and I wonder if AMC or FX will give comedy a try next.
OK, enough setup! To see the nominees, just read more.

Ugh. I agree on the lack of Marc and Amanda on here...and I don't like the Scrubs snubs. Business as usual, I guess.
1glad to see jane krakowski on there.
2Yay for Justin Kirk! He is so hilarious on Weeds.
3I agree with the Marc and Amanda point - they are the highlight of that show.
4Looks like the Emmy folks are more generous towards those in the twilights of their carreers than some of the younger talent who are pulling lots of weight. But the cast of Ugly Betty is wholly excellent, so it would be hard to say that Judith Light or especially Vanessa Williams didn't deserve a nomination. Still, Becki Newton and Michael Urie need to get some recognition somehow for carrying that show half the time.
5Aww Becki Newton and Michael Urie should definitely be on there...
