The median age of people who watch television during primetime hours hit 50 this past TV season, the oldest it's been since such things started being tracked. Now, this number only takes into account people watching TV live, not those who watch shows on DVRs, online, or through iTunes. But I'm still curious to find out if there's anything to the notion that younger folks aren't watching as much TV as the older population. So here's my question: Do you think you watch more or less primetime TV than your parents' generation?

I"m surprised at how much t.v. my mom watches. Growing up, we were only allowed one hour of t.v. a day. Now it seems whenever I call her she can only talk for a few minutes because some show is starting. She's even admitted to screening my call during Grey's Anatomy, lol.
My parents watch more TV than I do. But during the summer months they cut back quite a bit. SO, it might all even out.
In theory my parents watch more TV, but I watch 80% of my watching on the Internet, so I probably watch 4 times as much "TV".
Soooo, excuse my naivete, but how does one go about watching TV on the internet? Meaning clips on YouTube? I normally watch shows on my friend's tivo and buy them on iTunes.
My parents definitely watch more prime time tv than I do, but I probably watch way more TV than they do via the internet.
livyourlife, some sites like ABC or NBC have their episodes for various shows online. Also, places like surfthechannel.com have tons of TV shows online. It's streaming, sort of like youtube, but not.
Our parents watch way more "TV", but we (bf & I) watch all our TV content via the internet or dowloaded files on our Home Theater PC...
About the same, I guess. But I would say that generally older people watch more TV because most of them seem to be technologically challenged and most people my age are too busy to watch TV when its live.
my mom and brother watch tv together every night. my dad (who lives in Texas) watches mostly the news (several hours of it) and sports while he reads the paper, every evening. I think he watches a lot of movies on tv, too. so, yeah - i picked my parents, since i only watch a few episodes of tv on dvd or a movie (or part of a movie) in the evening.
I'd say my parents watch more than I do. My dad is constantly watching ESPN, the news, Monk, Seinfeld, America's Got Talent. My mom watches tv all night. If I'm bored I can watch tv, but the only shows I want to watch are Girls Next Door and I Love Lucy.
My parents watch SO much TV, which is weird because it wasn't that way when I was growing up. I watch DVDs every few nights, but usually I watch about three hours of actual TV each week.
My mom watches a lot of TV. She DVRs just about everything. my dad barely turns his TV on.
odly my parents did especailly y dad, but he was so tired of work it was relaxing
i watch more tv but my parents watch more movies
My grandmother owns the TV on weekdays. She has no soaps on on weekends so those days the TV's up for grabs, and that's when my brother and I argue over watching Arrested Development or Scrubs over Smallville on DVD.
About the same, although if you include dvds/live streaming tv shows I watch far more
i thin that in general we watch about the same. i think that my mom and i watch the same programming, she just DVRs it cause she always falls alseep
def. my parents and to make matters worse, they watch reruns over and over on tv land and actually laugh like have never heard the punchline before
I watch more TV than my parents do now, especially if you count online viewing, but they watched quite a bit more than I ever have when they were first married. They liked the shows better back then. Nowadays PBS is practically the only channel they watch, and it's mostly news-type stuff rather than scripted shows.
