Sarah Jessica Parker playing a wealthy, fabulous Manhattanite?! No way! I know it's a huge stretch, but it looks like SJP may go back to filming in her beloved city for The Ivy Chronicles. Based on a novel by Karen Quinn, the project is said to be in the vein of other New York-set novels-turned-movies, like The Devil Wears Prada and The Nanny Diaries.
The story follows "Ivy Ames, an Upper East Side woman who, after losing her high-powered job and getting divorced, starts over again in a less ritzy downtown apartment." After all this, Ivy turns her attention to helping children. Aww! Oh, but wait — lest we get all Sally Struthers here, Ivy "starts a business to help upper-middle-class women get their children into elite kindergartens."
What do you think of SJP in this role? Have you read The Ivy Chronicles? Do you think you will now?

hmm never heard of the book...could be cute though.

2Never read the book, but here's hoping the movie is more like the quality of Devil and less like Nanny.

4I actually did read it and I didn't like the book that much since I myself have been through the manhattan private school admissions process (albeit for high school) and i got a bit of a headache.
5yay - i have read the book and i enjoyed it. i think that she would be good in it, and i'm sure that i would go and see it. i'm sure that it'll be better than the nanny diaries.
6i read the book a few weeks ago and agree with caterpillargirl! it was very predictable, boring, i dont even know why i finished it! but i would prob still see the movie for some odd reason!

8Nope, never read the book and if it is made into a tv show I will probably not watch it. I'm so sick of SJP, she's really not that great of an actress and she's lame and annoying. I loved Sex and the City but I can't stand her...

10i've read this and actually liked it better than the devil wears prada or the nanny diaries. i would never have imagined sjp as the lead... maybe kate winslet or sandra bullock. i find sjp so overrated!

12don't think i see sjp playing the lead however. i hated scarlett as annie in nanny diaries when i heard about it- and i guess so did everyone else! terrible reviews and pretty bad movie
I didn't like the book as well as the Nanny Diaries or the Devil Wears Prada. It was alright, but not great. Like other posters, I'm not sure SJP is right for the role. The lead is wealthy, but more trying to be fabulous than actually fabulous.
13It may because I'm from New York, but is anyone else tired of this whole 'rich socialite' fiction? Blaaahh, give me something new.
