There continue to be posters, images and recently a teaser trailer for the Frank Miller-directed adaptation of Will Eisner's comic The Spirit. Everything we've seen so far features Miller's distinctive style — oozing with sexiness, promising violence, and rendered mostly in shades of black, white, and red.
Miller (who wrote 300) also wrote and directed Sin City, which I liked well enough (though some claim it's on the misoginystic side) and I think the teaser for The Spirit looks pretty cool. I know plenty of people who don't like this sort of thing and certainly won't be lining up to see The Spirit. I also know there are lots of fans of the comic who are salivating over every new poster we get for this project that isn't even set to hit theaters until December 25.
Where do you fall in the spectrum? Are you interested in The Spirit?

I think its crap really, but I can totally see why guys like him
1I thought Sin City was BRILLIANT, visually. I can't wait to see more of his movies.
2I loved Sin City so I can't wait to see The Spirit.
3Love them, but I'm a big comic person too. I just love the really graphic style and I think he does a great job of making that come to life.
4Love them
5I also think they are total crap, I only watch them if they are at the library for free.
My hubby doesnt like them either, heavy on the "style" seriously lacking everything else.
6I liked him until I did a paper on 300 and in my research came across an interview with him on NPR where he is TOTALLY RACIST.
7I love Frank Miller, Sin City was amazing, but I'm a huge fan of his stylized style.
8I like!
9I love his work
10I love this stuff. I think it's different and fun. love it
11Does anyone know what a sexist, white supremicist he is? If you follow comics or have read some of his mission statements, I'm sure plenty more people would be offended by his work. It's sad that he wrote the Dark Knight, which became totally iconic. Sigh.
12I think the style behind Sin City was pretty brilliant. I love to see unique stuff.
13Frank Miller is a brilliant writer and visionary- but I have to point out that he was only the co-director on Sin City. Robert Rodriguez virtually brought Miller's pages on Sin City to life and asked him to co-direct in order to make sure he didn't stray to far from the source material, and really as a courtesy. Now Miller's got the bug and directing on his own, but I think The Spirit just looks like a poor man's Sin City. I don't know if I would put too much faith in Frank Miller's first outing as an actual, soul director of a project, but I'm hoping he proves me wrong.
14I wrote that fast, there's tons of typos
15I really liked Sin City...even saw it twice in the theater. BUT I loved it because it was unique. It was just so different and unlike any movie I had ever seen. That uniqueness falls away when you make the same movie 4 times...The Spirit is looking just like Sin City and they are filming two sequels to Sin City right now...that's too much.
16Sin City was freakin' fantastic. I can't wait for The Spirit.
17I love his movies. I really like his style. I can't wait to see this new movie.
18I enjoy his style,
19it's very appealing, visually.
I like the visual style, but I can't really get into the gore/violence. They're great for those that do.
