Friday marked the first official day of Summer, though many of us have been feeling the pain of the sparse Summertime TV schedule for several weeks now. It's barely just begun! Sigh.
The upside is that the Summer months provide more free time to catch up on those shows you missed during regular TV seasons. Certain shows like Heroes are nice, easy ones because the episodes go fast, and you'll be able to move right along to the second season's DVDs when they come out later this year.
My parents just started watching the DVDs of last Summer's FX hit Damages, starring Glenn Close, which I fully support. And I've convinced several friends to rent the Friday Night Lights DVDs. I just know they'll like the show if they give it a chance to hook 'em.
And though I know it's a Summer show anyway, you'll have almost four weeks to catch up on the first season of Mad Men when it comes out on DVD July 1 — the second season starts up July 27. Or, for something a little lighter, the first "chapter" of Greek is a lot of fun to put on when you just need to crank the air conditioning and relax.
And if you've never seen an episode of Lost in your life and you're feeling ambitious, you have from now until January 2009 to watch every episode!
Will you catch up on any TV on DVD this Summer?

I really want to see Greek. I've never watched it but as a college student myself it might be interesting
1I have watched every episode of Lost but would like to see it all again. Is ABC airing it? Comcast On Demand? Something else?
2It's all about GREEK! I've been watching it online (all the episodes are on the ABC Family website) and I'm now officially totally hooked!! I can't wait for the new season!
3I need to finish Weeds which is a little inconvenient but my summer will be filled of asian shows!
4I need to catch up on Mad Men and Greek. I used my free time last summer to catch up on Friday Night Lights and I'm SO glad I did that. I absolutely love the show now (it's definitely among my top five all time favs) and thinking about how it would be now without having checked it out in the first place ...Damn, what a sad place I'd be in!
5I like watching old shows from my middle school and high school years---Dawson's Creek, Felicity...good old WB!
6I just watched all three seasons of Veronica Mars via Netflix. I'm currently trying to get caught up on summer shows. I saw Season 1 of Army Wives (and really liked it) so I could be ready for Season 2 that just started. I want to do the same for Mad Men and Damages.
7All the Seasons of Lost are on abc.com to watch...thats how I got caught up and am so glad I did! Everyone should watch that show!
8Catching up on This American Life and re-watching Mad Men and Friday Night Lights, the two best shows ever!
9Weeds, Carnivale, Deadwood, Friday Night Lights...
We've already blown through every episode of Heroes, Dexter, Jericho, Big Love, and Rome. I LOVE Netflix!!!
10I've just finished all three seasons of Arrested Development. What a fantastic show. I can't believe it was cancelled. Must catch up on Heroes next.
11I've already seen every episode of Greek and I'm not interested in Friday Night Lights or Heroes... so I'm trying to catch up on Gossip Girl. I hate how they took down all the web episodes!
12I'm a re-watcher. I always spend the summer re-watching shows I own on dvd. Right now I'm doing dawson's creek (for the billionth time) and felicity, after that I think I'm going to re-watch Roswell. I fully support anyone catching up on Friday Night Lights though, amazing show.
13The only show I kind of want to get into is Lost. I watched it a few times in the beginning and liked it, just never kept up with it.
These other shows don't appeal to me at all.
14I started watching Lost recently, and I'm hoping to find the last season of House somewhere...I missed all of it.
15Dexter! i fell out of watching one of my favorite shows this past year.
16you can watch a ton of shows at www.videostic.com
i used it when they took gossip girl offline
17i've already seen every episode of greek and gossip girl..
i really want to start watching 30 rock
and im having office withdrawls so I will definitely be buying the season 4 dvd to rewatch them all!
oh and i need to rewatch arrested development before the movie comes out (but that will be a while!
18www.hulu.com has a lot of shows too, I'm addicted to it! Not sure yet what I'm going to watch next.
19i am also a re-watcher. I have been and will continue to re-watch the new series of Doctor Who. I just finished season 1 again. I have been watching a lot of Murder She Wrote on DVD, too.
20I've got quite a few downloaded on my computer that I plan on watching: Pushing Daises, Cashmere Mafia, latest Project Runway, Laguna Beach (S3)/Newport Harbour, ANTM cycles 9&10, and Pussycat Dolls present Girlicious.
I'd like to watch Dexter, Heros, All seasons of Beauty and the Geek, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Sopranos and Trailer Park Boys if I get through those.
We'll see how I do!
21Oh yeah, and Ugly Betty as well!
22I wouldn't mind it if they reran Heroes leading up to Season 3.
23My favorite is the all day Marathons that catch you up in a day. I love to watch Monk, does any one know Pushing up Daisies (really funny and always a mystery). I lost touch with Lost so that will be a first on my list to catch. Of course, mostly in the evenings or on lazy days because who can resist the California sunshine!
24I'm going to watch "Flight of the Conchords" and "Weeds 3."
25Dexter and 30 Rock! I just finished watching Season One of Dexter and I really think it is the best show on television. Also bought Season One of 30 Rock. Both shows are phenomenal.
26I'm in the middle of catching up on LOST... Started it about a month ago and now I'm just starting season 3!
What I really want to catch up on is 24. Lucky for me, I have a while to do that.
27My husband and I just finished Friday Night Lights, and we really enjoyed it. I started Bones Season one. It's an easy and fun show to watch if you like crime dramas.
28Heroes, Entourage and Skins. Also I've missed about 6 episodes of Grey's Anatomy in a row, so I might have to catch up on that too! :
29Private Practice, 90210, Privileged (has that been renewed? I hope so), Gossip Girl and possibly Grey's Anatomy.
I started the season watching all of them, but just got too busy. I'm looking forward to playing catch-up.
I started doing so with Private Practice while avoiding schoolwork during finals
