
A while back I posted a Death Cab for Cutie track from the new Band tribute album, Endless Highway. But Death Cab could learn a thing or two about Band covers from Kentucky rockers My Morning Jacket, who contributed their interpretation of "It Makes No Difference" to the compilation.
It's fitting that MMJ should cover the perpetually touring Band, since My Morning Jacket is also incredible live, with its shows approximating a head-banging, guitar-shredding circus. On this song, MMJ frontman Jim James lends his usual reverb-drenched singing style to beautiful Band-inspired vocal harmonies, while rock-heavy guitars and snare rolls play off a more traditional lazy organ.
