Rumor has it today that we'll be getting more spooky, dark delight from the brilliantly talented duo Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Depp is reportedly producing and possibly starring as Barnabas Collins in a film adaptation of the 1960s "daytime supernatural soap opera" Dark Shadows. Tim Burton is attached to direct and screenwriter John August (a frequent Burton collaborator) will be brought in to write the script.
So far, the basic IMDB description of the movie version is this: "A gothic-horror tale centering on the life of vampire Barnabas Collins and his run-ins with various monsters, witches, werewolves and ghosts."
I can't wait to hear more about the plot and find out which role Helena Bonham Carter will play! I just love these guys.

7Loved that show! I use to watch it on the tv as a child even though it was about twenty or so years old. Then when they revised the show with Ben Cross; I was so entrigued by it. Interesting though the casting of Depp as Collins because I just don't see him as this character but more of the governess's love interest or Willie. Would be a great and different role of him! Collins was a noble gentlemen that was turned into a vampire by a mystical vampress named Angelique.
8Loved the original show. I can't quite see Johnny as Barnabus, but I'm sure he'll deliver a great performance. I'll definitely watch it.
9My grandma got me hooked on this show on VHS as a kid. I hope they keep some of the original scenes. I also hope that some network reairs some of the episodes in atticipation for the film.
10I have never heard of Dark Shadows, but the plot description sounds great. I love any Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration, especially if it involves Helena Bonham Carter and composer Danny Elfman as well.
11I used to love watching the re-runs of this when I was little!!! Oh wow - I will definitely see this! I just adore Johnny Depp. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a big screen 21 Jump Street, and JD as the seasoned detective Tom Hanson! ::swoon::!

15i'm glad this info is spreading. i heard this a year or more ago. anyway depp is a fan of the series and insisted on it to be created as a film so this film is going to be really good and if not, i'm still going to see it since the original series is really good. and dang, if they have vicki going back in time to the witch trials, awesome!!!!
