Hey, all you fans of Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk — the trailer from the movie adaptation of his fourth book Choke is tonally what one might expect from him: quite dark and post-modern in its despair, with an odd, social outcast as the main character. Oh, and funny, of course. Also, just like Fight Club, there are group therapy scenes as this character is a bit of a sex addict.
The movie received a lot of good buzz coming out of this year's Sundance Film Festival, even winning the Special Jury Prize. The film hits theaters August 1 and stars Sam Rockwell, Anjelica Houston, and an actress I'm always excited to see onscreen again (especially after her performance in No Country for Old Men), Kelly Macdonald.
Who read the book? Are you excited to see this on the big screen? To check out the trailer for yourself, read more.

i'm definitely excited, but the video won't work on my computer! i am going to have to look up an alternate source.
1LOVED the hair joke! Looks kind-of Rules of Attraction-esque.
2I'm very excited about this one! I read the book several years ago and the first thing I thought was "this needs to be a movie!" And Sam Rockwell seems perfect. Hopefully I'll be able to catch it when it plays the LA Film Fest next month!
3i've been waiting for this movie for months already, i'm a huge fan of chuck palahniuk and always had an affinity for Choke.. though Survivor remains my fav. can't wait to check out this filma nd chuck's newest, Snuff.
4haha, dannysf, i'm guessing you haven't read the book. =)
i'm excited, but i also find it funny that the preview makes it look pretty normal, which i guess will bring in a different audience than just the chuck p fans.
5Loved the book - I didn't know they made a movie, but dying to see it
6I'm with MindayH. I loved the book. Lullaby is my favorite Chuck, though. But I have no idea how they are going to make it a movie. Really other than Fight Club I have no idea how you make any of his other books movies.
7I read the book and while it was easy to put down and pick back up, the ending made the whole book worthwhile. Can't wait for the movie...
8Never read the book but I love Sam Rockwell!!!! This looks hilarious.
9I've read the book and I'm SO excited about the movie! I'd heard about it showing at Sundance but I didn't know it was going to be in theaters! YAY!! Sam Rockwell will be perfect.
10I love Chuck Palahniuk, and this book is on the pile of books that I still have to read. I have it, but haven't started it yet.
I love Sam Rockwell and Anjelica as well. I've got high hopes for this one.
I really, really, really want them to make a movie of Invisible Monsters, though. It's been on IMDB forever, but there are no details. That's my favorite book of his, after Fight Club.
11I have a bunch of friends that have read like all the Chuck Palahniuk books and are all about them. I never was really that interested but the movie looks funny. Maybe I'll check the book out to get a head start before the movie comes out.
12cant wait for this movie, my fave chuck book is invisible monster
13Loved the book. I forgot that this movie was being made. I'm excited now. It's actually one my fiance will wanna go see with me!
14Sam Rockwell's on screen persona is so depraved...no matter what he's playing there's always an undercurrent of 'dirty birdy' MCGirty about it...definitely want to see CHOKE since he's in it.
