I don't know about you, but I'm going through a little American Idol withdrawal, despite the fact that this was a rocky season. Ratings were on the decline, and then PaulaGate struck. But then there was the finale when David Cook won, and for a lot of people it restored some faith in the process.
As exciting as all that was, though, how did it compare to last year? Were there as many memorable performances as in years gone by?

I'm a fan of the original season! I just haven't been able to get into the show since then.
1Season 4 was the only season that I got really, REALLY into.
2I loved Carrie Underwood! When she sang Alone I knew she was going to be huge.
I had to same feeling about Kelly Clarkson, but for none of the others - least of all Taylor Hicks. What a wasted season that was...
3The first season was great - my favorite. Who didn't go "aww!" when Kelly's voice cracked as she was singing the final number?
This was the first season that I didn't even feel inclined to watch a single episode. Nobody even talked about it over the water cooler. We're all just over it now. My interest in this show has dropped down to nothing over the years.
4I haven't been able to get into AI since season one. I watched two or three shows this year, but I'm just not that interested any more.
5Season 1 was my fav..but i really liked season 5 (worse winner ever though) Chris & Kat were amazing!
6I voted season 7 because that was the first time I have ever watched it. I probably wouldn't have, but with the writers strike. I am glad I did because I actually really liked it. I was bummed out yesterday, knowing I would not have David Cook to watch every week anymore
7I was in LOVE with seasons 1 through 5.... haven't watched it since, became addicted to other/better shows.
8I only really liked season 1. I just could not get into it after that. Just didn't think anyone would be able to hold a candle to Kelly.
9Season 5 without a doubt, I don't think there has been another season where so many of the finalists have had success. Taylor Hicks has been incredible to watch. He wasn't supported for radio play so his CD didn't have much of a chance. Its pretty good tho, you should pick one up at amazon. Can not wait to see him in Grease. He has made more money touring than any of the others from that season and his pre-AI CDs have done very well. He brought an excitement to Season 5 that has made the show seem incredibly dull since.
10I only watched season 2. I had a soft-spot for Ruben Studdard and I was glad he won.
11I only ever watched the first season, after that it just didn't hold my attention.
12The first season with Kelly Clarkson . She is the best singer that came out of that show!
13I only watched the first and second seasons. After that I lost interest.
14Seasons 1, 4, and 5 were probably the best seasons (except that Taylor Hicks won instead of Chris Daughtry or Katharine McPhee). I bet most of the people who voted for the most recent season haven't seen any other season, because this one really sucked except for David Cook.
15Season 5 - but only because of Chris Daughtry.
16Since then the novelty has worn.
SEASON 5 WAS THE BEST! TAYLOR HICKS IS THE BEST AMERICAN IDOL EVER!!!!!!!!! LOVE HIM! LOVE HIS MUSIC! I'M GUNNA GO SEE HIM ON BROADWAY IN GREASE THIS SUMMER! HE'S AWESOME
17Season 3 for me, mainly because Fantasia can really sing. Season 4 was a bit disappointing because Bo was my favorite, season five was the start of the decline, Taylor's not the best singer, he's an entertainer so his albums will be boring. Season six was a mistake, Blake should've won and this season America got it right, David C really deserved to win..
18I thought season 7 was the best.
I actually didn't realize how much I enjoyed it until after it ended.
David A, David C and Michael Johns are 3 of my favorite contestants ever and really made this season for me.
The finale between the Davids was great.
I also liked season 4 and 5, though I don't think Taylor Hicks deserved to win season 5. There was A LOT of talent that season and he seriously won? Eh...
3 and 6 were the worst.
19Season 5 was def. my favorite. It's the only one that I really got into.
20Loved Kelly Clarkson. It's always better on these shows before the contestants know the ins and outs and how to work the game.
21David Cook made Season 7 worth keeping up with! I loved Season 4, too, and was disappointed with the fifth.
22I just loved Clay Aiken.
23Season 7 seems to have had the most talent.
24I never really watched AI. But I really enjoy Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood's music. I don't think Jordin Sparks is too great either.
