Why is Ryan Seacrest famous? No, really. Why is this short man with the funny haircut and the cheesy smile hosting the most-watched TV show in America, doing red carpet coverage at Hollywood's biggest events and generally making his presence inescapable?
This is a dude who looks tiny compared to most of the female "Idol" contestants, who flashed his underwear at the Academy Awards, whose idea of a signature catchphrase is "Seacrest out." He's so forced, so hyper, so everywhere. Yet lots of people obviously find him charming, because he's the face of "Idol" and E! News and could well be the next Dick Clark. Frankly, I'm tempted to agree with Esquire's conclusion that he must be the devil incarnate.
Why didn't Seacrest go the way of Dunkleman after the first season of "Idol"? Why must we still care about his sexuality, his fashion choices, his awkward moments with Simon Cowell? Tell me, Seacrest fans, what exactly is the appeal?

Dunkleman must feel like the biggest ass. Ryan is a very hardworking guy. He's got his radio show, E! News and Idol all going on at once. Good for him for making it big but I think he should stay off the red carpet. Those awkward interviews are embarrassing and he's asking all the wrong questions. He should stick to Idol, radio, news and even new years - not events with actual a-list celebs.
1It's hard to defend him now that he's back in full cheeseball reading-the-teleprompter force, but I can never help but like him in the early part of the Idol season. When the judges are in full insensitivity mode, Seacrest seems so much more natural and genuine, and he seems to "get" the contestants in a way that I don't think the judges do. Maybe.
Anyway, by this point it's impossible to like little guy who tries to stir up drama on the panel by poking fun at Simon. Again.
2Oh wow! I didn't know anyone was paying THAT MUCH attention...
Guess I need ta' stop watching the Sci-Fi Channel!
3I'm not a RS fan, but I guess one could say that he exudes some sort of prescence. I personally don't get it, but he is a hard working dude. and making boat loads...
mcconnell, out.
4i'm confused?
5i really like ryan seacrest.
it doesn't matter what awkward situation happens on live television, he always seems to have a good cover for it.
plus, to me, he just seems like a really cool guy. whether he's talking to "regular" people, weirdos who are auditioning for AI, or huge celebrities, he seems genuinely interested in what they have to say.
maybe it's just me. but i like seacrest.
6i agree with everything that person wrote. he's a horribly annoying little man with a big mouth.
7It is obvious. He is a threat to NO ONE.
8I really like him. I don't think he's all that bad. And so he's a little on the short side. And not to mention he keeps Simon on his toes....

Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life.
I think he does a great job on AI.
10I really do not like him. I have known about Ryan ever since his early days on Star 98.7- an L.A station he was at before replacing Rick Dees at KIIS. I have always found him annoying and extremely condescending. I feel bad for Guliana on E!. E! News was totally her show before Ryan came and now she doesnt get as much air time as she use to.
I dont watch AI so I really have nothing to say about that.
After that whole Golden Globes thing with Angelina Jolie were he b*tched about her I really think he needs to grow a pair. I have never seen a supposedly straight man b*tch and moan so much because a woman wouldnt answer his idiotic question about cereal. I thought she handled his questions in a very classy way but because she didnt kiss his ass for air time like all the other celebs he was offended
11Maybe its because he worked his butt off to get where he is today, unlike certian celebrities such as Paris Hilton. Now why the hell is she famous? He is a person who carries himself well and has a talent for what he does.
12Yes he worked a lot to get where he is now but I really see no talent. Personally I just dont think his job is that hard. Now if he asked better question when interviewing celebs- specially on the red carpet- then I probably wouldnt have as much as a problem with him but until that day I will continue to cringe whenever I see his overly highlighted hair and bleached out teeth

14I find him utterly annoying!
Can we impeach him?
i think he is: annoying, boring, condecending and pretty cardboard-y ... i just don't get it
15Don't like him. There actually a lot of dud hosts out there. Time to bring in new, smart 'n' sassy, but more importantly GENUINE blood.
