Hang on, I have to go find some tissue before I can start this recap. If you weren't a bit teary-eyed at last night's season finale of House, then your heart is as cold as a heart that's been put into arrested hypothermia.
Last week, House took us on an interesting bus ride, and while I didn't know where it was going, I certainly wasn't expecting an ending like this. Especially considering how light-hearted, and goofy this season has been. We started off with a Survivor-like hunt for a new team, and ended up with a bus crash and a case of tragic timing. To check out all of my thoughts on the House season finale (spoilers ahead), just read more.
After the sort of eerie feel to last week's episode, it was nice to see that this week's was back on track. If it hadn't been that Amber was the patient, it could have been almost like any other episode of House. The gang gathers around the white board and tries to figure out what's going on. House sends Thirteen and Kutner off to ransack the house, Taub runs some more tests, Foreman — who has fully embraced his inner House, don't you think? — complains, and so on.
Only it's not like any other episode of House. Amber — the newly found love of Wilson's life — is barely hanging on to her life, House is coming off of a heart attack and head injury, and the team is dealing with helping one of their own. Meanwhile, Wilson is a mess and wants to know exactly why House was hanging out with Amber to begin with. Everything else was fascinating, but that's really what I wanted to know, too.
We eventually learn that Amber was with House because she was supposed to pick him up when he was too drunk to drive home. And House — being the stubborn and unruly man that he is — forced a drink on her and then decided to take the bus home. For some reason, Amber followed him onto the bus where she popped a few flu meds right before the crash. The crash caused her kidneys to fail, which led to the medication becoming stuck in her system, causing irreparable damage to the rest of her organs.
Talk about a tragic series of events. You can't help but feel miserable for everyone involved. Also, seeing House cry when he remembered what had happened was rather touching, don't you think?

Some other thoughts:
- When House asks Wilson, "You think I should risk my life to save Amber's?" and Wilson just sort of nods at him, didn't you think it was his way of saying, "Dude, you seriously owe me"? Also, why do Chase and Wilson perform House's operation? Couldn't they have used doctors who have slept within the last 36 hours?
- Four words: Amber Wilson sex video.
- "You are the champion of not dealing with your problems." "My grandson gave me a mug that says that."
- How does Kutner have such a positive outlook on life despite a sad family tragedy in his childhood?
- Did you notice how Cameron received all of, oh I don't know, 30 seconds of speechless screen time? I wonder what her role will be like next season.
- How do you think Thirteen's positive Huntington's test result will change her character?
- Did you notice it was Fred Durst playing the bartender?
- Were you shocked that they killed Amber off? Her face when she learns that she's going to die had me in tears. So did the part when she and Wilson are lying on the hospital bed.
- I love the way the all-white ethereal bus looked, and it was interesting to hear House talk about how he doesn't want to be in pain or have Wilson hate him. Also, did you see the way Cuddy's hand was holding House's at the end?
So what did you think? Did you love the episode or hate it? How about the season as a whole? What do you think this is going to do to the Wilson/House relationship? And how are you going to spend your time waiting for the Fall premiere?!

Amazing episode, i cried throughout the whole thing. I'm thinking the hand holding is setting us up for a deeper relationship between Cuddy & House, i think this experience will change him.
1i absolutely LOVED this episode. I couldn't wait to log on to see your recap! My chest hurt so much from feeling so much emotion... lol.. I think they all did such a wonderful job with the acting, especially Amber in her deathbed. It was weird to see House evoke so much emotion and be open about his feelings while he was on the 'bus' with Amber at the end. Awesome finale! Can't wait for next season... I can't wait to find out what will happen to House and Wilson's friendship... :*(
2I cried like a baby! I thought it was a great episode and the last few scenes with Amber and Wilson just killed me.
3Yes, I think the "bromance" is definitely over -- or at least irreparably damaged. Big difference between "you ate my leftovers" and "the love of my life would be alive today if you weren't such an irresponsible ass."
4I loved this episode. Definitely one if the best. At the end, I was definitely crying. I really didn't expect her to die. To have the love of your life taken like that really got to me. I don't think I could have done what Wilson did when he turned off the machines.
51. Is Chase the ONLY surgeon at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital? Jeez. He has performed every surgery this entire season.
2. I always wondered how Kutner ended up with the name Kutner. Now we know.
3. I got pretty misty-eyed at the end, and I really hope the bromance isn't over. House/Wilson is my second favorite dynamic on the show after House/Cuddy (and yes, I loved how she was holding his hand). Also, I really liked Amber. Yes, she was a cutthroat b*tch, but she was so much fun to watch.
4. The music in this eppy KICKED ASS! Bon Iver! Iron and Wine! And that effing awesome cover of Massive Attack's Teardrop (the show's theme song) by Jose Gonzalez!
This is the original by Massive Attack
6Here is Jose's version
Um, a bit teary eyed, Buzz? Try crying like a baby. I don't think I've cried that much at television since Denny died!
This was such a great ending to this season- ever since House finally picked his new team I've been steadily losing interest and this was enough to pull me back in. I'm so interested to see how this changes Wilson and House's relationship, as well as House's and Cuddy's. The way she was curled up in that chair next to his bed at the end was so touching. And I completely agree that this season was Foreman's official transformation into House. I wonder if he will be taking the reigns from a more subdued House at the beginning of next season. At least I've got Season 3 to finish on DVD to tide me over for the summer!
7SAD! That was sad sad sad. I was definitely choking up, especially at the end. I loved that when Wilson asked Amber why she wasn't mad, she replied that anger wasn't the last feeling she wanted to experience.
BOOOOO! hand me some tissues!
8If by "teary-eyed" you mean "sobbing like I'd just been diagnosed with cancer of the puppy"? Then yes, yes I was. I started when I saw the tears on House's face and kept going until after the credits had finished. I was a complete mess.
This 2-parter is definitely some of the best television I've seen in a VERY long time.
9"Cancer of the puppy." That's a Buffy quote!
10I knew that was Fred Durst as the bartender! Well actually I noticed it was him but wasnt sure, but you have confirmed it!
This episode was amazing, great finale.
11LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!
12Oh WOW!!!!!!!!!! What a great episode earlier I'll admit I said "I don't care if amber dies i really don't like her" But watching...I balled like a baby.. So okay i liked her a bit, lol....(oh and when he found the letter under the pillow i balled all over again)....and poor house......wonder where they will go with this next season?

accomplished!
14Best.House.Ever.
15I cried soo much!
It was such a sad episode!
16Genius! I bawled
17I cried for happiness when she died. This was by far the happiest ending episode of the season.
18I often joke about House and Wilson being the OTP of the show, but this episode left me very sad. I do think Wilson and Amber were shoved together into a relationship kinda fast, but frankly, I like seeing Wilson happy. And the way House and Amber played off each other was perfect.
I hope they give Cameron and Chase something to do next season. They were practically extras.
19I was crying so much! But you left two things out: Amber got on the bus because House left behind his cane, and (2) Thirteen has Huntington's!!!!!
Because, ya know, this episode was nearly NEARLY as SAD enough!!!
20I sort of stopped watching House midseason, but I watched the season finale. I guess I'm somewhat cold because the only time I teared up was when House said he didn't want Wilson to hate him, that moment had me.
21I cried hysterically for the last 10 minutes. It was kind of predictable that she would die, but it was so sad nonetheless. I love Wilson and was happy for him to actually be happy (even if it was with Cut Throat b*tch).
22I cried like a baby! That was so sad! I love this show and can't wait to find out what happens next season.
23oh man I am so psyched for next season! I feel kinda robbed from this season though. I cried when Amber died, but I really really hated her character.
24Loved it...I think all the characters will have to change.
25I was definitely a mess watching the last ten minutes or so. I never liked Amber's character, but I actually liked her with Wilson. They were a good balance. And each actor (for Amber and Wilson) played their parts so well at the end. Wilson was actually overcome with emotion. I don't usually cry over tv episodes, but this one really got to me. It was so well acted. I really felt like I could imagine being in that position and how awful that would feel. The last time I cried over a television show like this was during Nate's funeral episode on Six Feet Under. Both were very well done.
26Great ep. But omg i was bawling my eyes out wen Amber died. I was really starting to like her especially her relationship with Wilson..
27Bawled my eyes out.
But, YAY! More Chase!!
All I can hope for next season is EVEN MORE Chase.
Cameron?? Meh.
