Recently The LA Times ran a piece that analyzes the bumpy road it's been to bring the latest Marvel comic book hero, The Incredible Hulk, to the big screen.
First and foremost there's the question of "why?" Ang Lee's disappointing stab at it was out in theaters a mere five years ago. Fans feel burned by that adaptation and skepticism lingers that anyone can get it right.
More anxiety grew as the trailer was suspiciously delayed. Now that two trailers have been released it seems fans are feeling better about the film. Then again, behind-the-scenes rumors persist that the movie's star Edward Norton isn't thrilled with some of Marvel's choices. And while the trailers definitely look more action-packed than Ang Lee's movie, those CGI monsters running at each other in the end still strike me as a bit silly.
When all is said and done, I'm wondering if the good buzz will triumph over the bad in time for audiences to get on board by June 13. What do you think is the biggest hurdle the filmmakers are facing in getting people to see their movie? Do you have high hopes for The Incredible Hulk, or not so much?

I really think that because the last one sucked so bad, this one is really going to have its work cut out for it to impress. Although, the trailers alone make me think this one is going to be 10x better already.
1I just really hope that this one will be much better than the first one.
2The last one sucked so bad. This one looked better, just based on the cast, but then to hear Norton isn't happy I'm back in the wait and see camp....
3i just keep thinking about how bad the last one was - but then we have to remember that it's going to be a different kind of movie - and that it'll have the effects of the last one - but not as many.
4I'm one of the few who actually liked the last one! I'm not looking forward to this new version, I don't think it's necessary.
5The last one was such a disappointment mainly bc it was ridiculous. The story was horrible. It didnt follow any sort of formula the comic has, not that everything follows word for word but Lee didnt even come close. The CGI will always make the Hulk a little corny looking, but then again the character himself is very ridiculous.
6Im a little iffy about the new movie, but Im positive Norton will out do Bana as Banner in this flick.
The Hulk was always my least-favorite comic-book character. As a kid, I used to have nightmares about him. The trailer looked OK (Liv! Edward! Yay!) but it looks really loud and violent. I will probably pass...
7Since I grew up watching The Hulk TV series it is really hard to see a CG version of The Hulk. He seems so over the top in CG form. I am a huge fan of Edward Norton and Liv though, so I will give this a chance. But I am a fan of Bana and Jennifer Connelly too, and their version was disappointing. At least this version doesn't seem to have Hulk bounding around the desert like Tigger on steroids!
8This movie looks much better than the last one, but I don't understand why we needed another Hulk movie so soon.
9this really doesn't look good to me. I don't think the Hulk is a very interesting character.
10I don't think the Hulk is a very appealing character and if Ang Lee can't make a good movie about this superhero, then who can? I don't know, I much prefer Batman...
11I'm DEFINITELY psyched for this movie. I'm a big fan of Norton and Liv, but I really am excited about the movie, and *not* just for them.
I feel that the movie had hurdles from the get-go just being a Hulk movie - they knew people were going to say, "Why?" and, "Wasn't there already a Hulk movie?" The fact that they're going for it despite that and the fact the people like Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt, and co. are attached gives me a lot of confidence. The latest trailer was amazing, IMO, and shows how different this one will be from Ang Lee's disappointment.
I think if people are deciding to not see this merely because of they movie from 5 years ago made by COMPLETELY different people, they need to keep an open mind - this is obviously a VERY different movie. Why else would they go through the trouble of making another one if it wasn't?
12That last one was horrendous! However, the previews and trailers for this version look great!
13Totally agree with Snapshot. Now it looks like the Hulk is being portrayed the way it should have been.
And Hulk is the only super (or anti) hero I ever cared about. The only one I felt connected with when I was a child...there's something tragic about him, he can't "enjoy" the fame because of his power. He has to run away and hide.
14Ang Lee, who is always so sure of himself, directed an annoying piece of pretentious garbage. He ruined a rather simple character with that "psychological" sh*t.
