American Idol cut its field to three on Wednesday, meaning one of the singers we've come to know and love – or, well, at least know — has reached the end of the competition. Which of the singers above bid Idol a fond farewell? To find out and talk about it, just read more.

Well, after a few lackluster weeks, and a night of forgotten lyrics, Jason Castro was dunzo on Wednesday — and it was probably no surprise. He'd said in an interview a week ago that he was ready to go home, and that seemed obvious in everything he did. I'm glad his fans sort of let him go, rather than voting in double the numbers they did on Tuesday; it seemed like the merciful thing to do. He didn't seem the least bit shocked, or even sad, which I think means it was the right call.
Idol basically removed any potential drama the night could have had by sending the two Davids to safety immediately. Yawn. Seacrest faking that he was going to reveal the winner at the 25-minute mark seemed exceptionally cruel this time around.
Some other thoughts on Wednesday's show:
- Jason's video montage reminded me that we didn't see him at all during the auditions. Considering the lack of early exposure, it's pretty amazing that he got this far.
- "Reeling in the Years"? Yeah, that's a way to show that this crop of Idol contestants can sell records in the modern climate. Yeesh.
- Who made a more ridiculous bullfighter: Syesha or David Archuleta?
- Tuesday's Idol performance show had astoundingly low ratings by the show's normal standards, and yet it was the highest vote total of the season — 21 million viewers vs. 51 million votes.
- Archuleta has had nothing to overcome. Shocking! Also, maybe all the stoner comments would stop if Jason Castro would stop asking like such an obvious stoner. (That said, his "someone told me I shot the tambourine man" line was pretty good.)
- The final four arriving in Vegas = the Beatles arriving in America? I . . . don't think so.
- I'm not a big Maroon 5 fan, but Adam Levine kind of won me over with his personality. Didn't see that coming.
What did you think? Was it good to see Bo back again? Was Jason the right pick to go home? And is there any way Syesha can make the finale over one of the Davids?

Yay! I am so glad that Jason is gone, especially since he botched his song so bad.
1Is anyone else mad that iTunes has the studio version of David Cook's "Hungry Like the Wolf" and not "Baba O'Reilly" which was totally the better song?
Bye-bye ya grin-happy stoner; I'll miss ya!
2The studio version of David cook's HLTW is awesome! I do wish they would put both songs up though.
3maroon 5 sounded pretty bad.
adios castro!!
4Definitely the right pick; it was Jason's time to go weeks ago.
5He definitely needed to go, he will be just fine, he obviously has a fan base.
6@rickimc - I was so ticked off when I saw which studio song was on iTunes! Baba sounded like it would be even better if we'd heard the whole song so I was hoping that would be the chosen one
It was Jason's night to go - and while I don't think he should've won - I'll miss his personality, for sure.
It was great seeing Bo Bice again - he and Carrie were my favourite final two - and yeah, Adam Levine kinda won me over when he was tlaking to the contestants. Didn't see that coming.
7Maroon 5 always sounds bad live. Loved Bo. He was great reminder of how this season isn't living up to past seasons. And as much as I didn't like Jason, at least he had a sense of humor about it all and showed some personality, unlike David A. What a pile of poop that kid is!
8Maroon 5 may suck live, but Adam Levine is capital H HOT.
Anyway, I thought it was BORING. The only redeeming part of the night was the bull fighter commercial because it was ridiculously hilarious. I can see why Jason wanted to go home...they pretty much have to sell their souls, don't they?
9okay Jason is gone and im sure he is relieved and so am i becuase american idol seemed to mainstream for him BUT that means another week of Syesha. I'm telling you if she wins I will never watch AI again
10I hated the comparison Idol make between the top 4 and the Beatles. You can't compare the Idol top 4 with the Beatles. The Beatles are legendary.
11I was soooo thrilled that Castro went home. It aggravated me that Carly was sitting in the audience with so much talent and instead they have Castro on stage butchering Bob Marley and forgetting his lyrics. Bo was awesome! I just bought his c.d. I haven't listned to it yet, but I can't wait!
12I just want someone to buy Jason Castro a whole bunch of weed to console him for "shooting the tambourine man." It was his time to go, although I'm glad he stayed long enough to do that bullfighting Ford commercial. He actually looked pretty hot in the red matador outfit.
To answer your question Buzz, I think D'Archie looked the most ridiculous as a bullfighter because he would definitely be most likely to be gored by a bull. At least Sayesha looked like she would have given the bull a run for its money.
13The only thing that saved last night's show was Adam Levine, and I'm not really a Maroon 5 fan. Sssshhhing the crowd and then turning to the contestants and saying, "hello, young people." - so funny!
The best part of last night:
"We're touring in Europe, and...San Antonio."
14Oh, right...I forgot. Bo Bice was awful.
15Bye Jason.
My vote to win would go to David Cook.
16I'll miss Jason and his random stoner comments.
Adam was hilarious last night!
17it will def be between the 2 Davids one the last show. I LOVE Archuletta. he seems so sweet and sincere..adorable! but Cook is near perfection in every song he sings and he already seems like a star. they both will go far in the music industry, I just wonder which one will win the competition.
18I can't believe Jason Castro made it as far as he did...sorry, but I just didn't see where he was so talented and amazing. David Cook on the other hand, is fabulous. I love him and I think he's right up there with Carrie Underwood. He is immensley talented and I hope he wins it.
19Something is creepy to me about David A, like his facial expressions or something, just don't think he's all that great. I lost interest in it once Michael Johns left and Carly left. I'll be pulling for David Cook to win. Adam Levine is smoking hot! I thought he was so funny last night too. Bo Bice=yawn.
20I'm not watching this show anymore. I like Syesha, but I loved Jason. And you know Syesha's going home next week. I really don't think there's anything she can do to overcome Archie's screaming tween fanbase, and whoever is voting for Cook.
21Bo Bice was okay until he got to the screaming "rocker" part of his song. I muted the TV then.
Maroon 5 was good, I hadn't heard that song before, but I liked it. And Adam Levine was pretty creepy.
I don't care who wins now. If there was any chance Syesha could win, I'd pick her. But I guess I'm going to go with David A., simply because my sister loves him. I can't stand him, I think he's boring and babyish.
Thank you DaniCalifornia for speaking the truth! I really like Syesha too. I wish she had a chance--she is so much more talented than David A. I don't understand why he gets so much praise from the judges and she gets picked apart. His voice grates on me and his aw shucks act is driving me crazy.
22I love Jason, and predict that he'll have a hit album, the same way Chris Daughtry did. I always close my eyes when they are singing, to see if I would recognize them on the radio.......most sound similar to each other......Jason is different from all the rest.......he just SINGS......and has a great time doing it. What will be David A's venue if he wins?.........possibly the Disney Channel........not pop Star.
23I'm gonna miss Jason Castro's face, he is freaking adorable...but he's so unique I'm sure he'll get a record deal anyway if he really wants one.
Is it just me or was Adam Levine's falsetto about an octave higher last night than on his albums? Just asking.
24Ugh. I'm with you, MsDee1, if Sayesha wins, I'll never watch AI again, either.
25Did anyone else notice that they cut out sound when Sayesha was talking about being in the Ford "commerical". And then suddenly, "she couldn't really talk about that"? HILARIOUS.
I am glad Jason went home he just didn't seem to care, Loved Adam Levine he's so cute! Love Syesha but there's no way she's making it those David's are gonna get her.
26i really feel like carly should be there rather than syesha. i wasn't a huge carly fan, but she was a better singer than syesha. the davids deserve to be there.
27Oh, and I think the reason David A. gets so nervous at the judging is because he knows that his dad is going to rip him a new one if he gets any bad remarks.
28You guys rag on David A just cuz he is non controversial. You gotta admit he can sing and this is a singing competition.
29Bye Jason! His eyes were beautiful in that terrible Ford commercial.
30people rag on archie cause hes boooooring. he's like a robot, maybe if music doesnt work out for him he can remake SMALL WONDER and instead of playing Vicky he can play Victor.
31I loved Jason but he definitely seemed ready to go- He looked more excited to be going home than the other three were about staying!
32I really loved Jason because he was so different than the traditional Idol contestant. But I have to say, it was his time to go, his heart didn't seem in it anymore and it showed in his performances. I hope David Cook wins it all, I really cannot see the appeal of David Archuleta.
33Jason seems like a nice GUY and all, but I don't think he was a super-talent. I would love to hang out with him in someone's living room or on a beach and listen to him play, but I think he just wasn't ready for the commitment required to be a professional of any kind.
It was weird to see Carly sitting there- a couple of times when the camera panned over her she looked p ***ed, lol! She had to be thinking ' at least I knew the WORDS to my songs' didn't forget them like Jason or change them illegally like Archuletta did because his control-freak daddy told him to.
That said, I really wish Cook could have sung ALL of Baba O Reily- you just can't judge these guys at this point based on little snippits of songs. I really think Syesha has improved DRAMATICALLY over the compitition and although she won't win, I think this has given her confidence and poise to go on and have a really great Broadway career or something similar.
Sorry- I used to like Archuletta, but I just can't stand him anymore. He is so boring- has a voice, but sounds and acts like his 40-something father is channeling him. Just because little girls think he's cute and keep texting in for him on Hello Kity phones does not make him a talent. He seems like a nice kid- go back to school, Davie!!
I really think David Cook is our choice. He is mature enough to handle the spotlight and seems like a fairly talented muscian as well as a singer.
I agree about 'Reeling in the Years' I like me some Steely Dan as much as anyone, but I don't think we can call it ( or Neil Diamond, or Andrew Lloyd Webber) relevent in the contemporary music world today. Successful yes, talented yes, but I'm not gonna run out and buy a record of someone singing their covers. Also, sorry, but the girl who won English Idol or whatever - Simon's protogee- was boring too! She just sounded like a zillion other pop/r&b singer girls with long legs out there. Nothing new or interesting there.
For the Ford commercial- worse still, lime green satin isn't a good choice for anyone, but man! David Cook looked so paunchy and embarassed!! I felt sorry for him...
34David Cook for the motherf*cking win!
35I love Jason but yeah it was his time to go!
DAVID COOK ALL THE WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
