When you think of bonding with your mom over entertainment, what do you think of?
Now, I know how cheesy it is, but for me, I immediately think of two things: Once and Again and How to Make an American Quilt. Sure, they're sentimental picks, but they're pretty much perfect for viewing with your mom, and for generally creating that heartwarming sense of hominess. I know people who used to cuddle up to Gilmore Girls with their moms, and a friend of mine calls her mother each week after Grey's Anatomy. Other "momly" movies I've enjoyed include The Joy Luck Club, last year's Waitress and the 1995 movie Now and Again.
We've already discussed what not to watch with your parents (though I'm curious where the Sex and the City movie will fall for some of you?), so now as Mother's Day fast approaches, tell me: Which movies and TV shows are mom-friendly, kid-approved?

A show I love watching with my mom is Brothers & Sisters. I love the Walkers-- not so similar to our family but and interesting dynamic!
1Sorry... *an* interesting dynamic
2Once and Again and My So Called Life. Ah, the memories.
3Our favorite show to watch together is Family Guy. We also used to watch SATC and Six Feet Under together. Oh, and Kids in the Hall.
Neither my mom nor I are real big on chick-flicks or romcoms, but we always go see the Harry Potter movies together.
4My family comes together around reality shows, so we watch American Idol and ANTM together. In the past mom and I have enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine and Love Actually together.
5My Mom and I bond over CSI, Vegas and New York. When Miami comes along,we find 1-2 minutes to make fun of Horatio then switch to another channel.
As with movies, she likes suspense/thrillers/murder/mystery and my taste is varied, so if there's something she'll like, I'll tag along.
6Mom doesn't watch a lot, but definitely Gilmore Girls. We used to love to watch that together. Oh, gosh and that cheesy Marisa Tomei movie, "Only You." Mom LOVED that movie. I think she's also the one who introduced me to "The Thorn Birds."
7My mom is basically anti sexual undertone shows so I really haven't ever watched any shows with my mom... but I tell her she needs to watch Brothers and Sisters.
8My mom & I don't really have the same taste in movies and TV shows, and we live four time zones apart now anyway. No bonding in front of the screen for us.
9I watch CSI, NCIS, Midsomer Murders, pretty much anything with lots of death and mystery in it, with my parents. Perhaps this should worry me..?
10I got my mom into the Office. She hated it at first but now has the Dwight bobblehead I got her last Mom's day on her desk at work!
We used to watch melrose place together back in the day, good times. And we used to watch SATC in our respective rooms (blush factor was too high) and scream stuff to each other "I can't believe she said that!" or "Ugh/yay Big!" LOL
11My mom and dad watch every television show ever created (they own 3 tivos), so I pretty much can say we share our tv tastes.
But notable ones would be Gilmore Girls and the Law and Order shows.
12Oddly I used to watch Gilmore Girls with my Dad. I don't think my mom and I were ever into the same shows.
13I watch LOST with my mom now. She didn't watch the OC with me when it was still on, but we watch the DVDs together now. She'll watch Gossip Girl with me occassionaly as well. We also watch SATC DVDs together, and we'll totally go see the movie together too!
14As for movies, we'll watch anything together. However when we watch movies with sex scenes in it with my dad, she'll insist I fast-forward
15My mom and I used to watch Beverly Hills 90210 together, and she is the one who got me hooked on The Young and the Restless.
16If it's got Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, we're there. Also, Love Actually, While You Were Sleeping, and others like it. I like a lot of other movies too, but mum and I can watch these over and over. (We have big portions of While You Were Sleeping memorized.
17We used to watch Gilmore Girls, and now we watch Scrubs, although not together because we're 5000 miles apart. I actually made a list on my computer of movies I'm going to make my mom watch when I go home.
18I forgot to say FRIENDS is our lifetime obsession. We used to watch it when it was on TV, and now we watch the DVDs over and over and over. That show has some mother-daughter stuff going on.
19When I was a kid, my mom used to let me stay up an hour past my bed time every Wednesday night just so she'd have someone to watch Dynasty with. We've watched a ton of stuff together (I confess - right now we have to get on the phone and have an in depth Idol recap every week)but it's the Dynasty thing that makes me smile.
20My mother, sister and I always watched Steele Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes and Dirty Dancing!! I still watch these movies often even though we all live apart now. We also would watch Beverly Hills 90210 every week together and I can still remember the three of us sitting in the basement crying because Dylan's wife was killed! haha
21my mom doesn't talk about tv shows and movies much apart from bollywood movies, so if i want to bond with her then i'll watch whatever bollywood movie she wants with her. She seemed to like Samantha Who? when it was on and we watched a few episodes together.
My mom brother and i used to watch 90210, melrose place, Road to Avonlea and Degrassi (reruns) together.
22I watch desperate housewives, grey's anatomy, brothers and sisters, and a bunch of shows together. Just not gossip girl XD
23We used to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer together. Okay, who am I kidding. We bought the DVDs and still do
We also watched sex and the city together, so we'll probably watch the movie when it comes out on DVD (we don't have a theater anywhere near
where I live) and my best friend and her mom are driving 3 hours to go see it!
24My mom and I always watch Imitation of Life together. So sad!
And Lost.
25my mother and i have vastly different taste in movies, but we can always get behind a good swashbuckling action flick with a hot star a la Gladiator or Pirates of the Caribbean. we both also loved Little Miss Sunshine, which is mainly a testament to the amazing appeal of that movie to pretty much everyone.
tv-wise, we both watch Lost religiously and like to chat through reality competition shows a la DWTS or AmIdol.
26My mom and I love to watch House together. Oh, and I watch Monk with both of my parents!!
27My mom and I have a standing date on Thurs. nights to watch the Office. I make dinner, she brings dessert and the hubby stays out of the way
28My mom and I like similiar tv shows and movies, so we've watched quite a bit together.
Right now we watch Grey's and Criminal Minds together.
In the past I remember dates for 24, House, and CSI (to name a few).
29My mom's not that into american shows, she prefers brazilian soaps which I can't stand. :/ But I did get her to watch (and I think she enjoyed): Grey's Anatomy, CSI, Medium, Carpoolers, 'Til Death and Old Christine.
As for movies, we like watching foreign stuff. We even watched Almodóvar movies together, my mom loves them. It was so awkward in the beginning, LOL but then it was alright.
30Ooh, I forgot about America's Next Top Model and Brazil's Next Top Model! My mom and I watched those a lot!
31My mom and I are totally going to see the SATC movie together. We both loved the show. I really can't imagine seeing it with anyone else!
We both love romantic comedies, so we watch a lot of them together. We also both loved Gilmore Girls.
32My mom and I usually watch Sabrina (the new one) or Sense & Sensibility. I cannot tell you how many nights we have spent watching those movies. As far as tv goes, the only thing we watch together are Atlanta Braves games. My mom is a baseball nut!
33My mom and I talk on the phone or text on commercial breaks and after Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, and Private Practice (a lot of it is talking about how it is nothing compared to GA). She got me into watching Medium so we'll talk about that sometimes also. And to fit in with me and my brothers when we're home, she'll watch The Office, 30 Rock, and Arrested Development(DVDs) with us lol
34I forgot about Cashmere Mafia, we would watch that and talk about it afterwards also. I got her to watch Dexter when it aired on CBS and she absolutely hated it. She refused to give it a real chance lol
3524! lol. my mom and i talk about how much she's in love with jack bauer and how he looks like my dad. we cringe at the action sequences, b*tch about the useless female characters, and hold our breaths for minutes at a time
36When my mom was still alive we watched "Wizard of Oz" I have seen that movie a million times. I still watch it and love it..and now my 4 year old niece loves it too.
37My mom is super conservative, She does watch Survivor, but everything else is not my style (dancing with the stars for example)
Our favorite movies to watch together are The Joy Luck Club, Terms of Endearment, Youve Got Mail, and Sleepless in Seattle.
I tried watching Gone with the wind with her once, she loves it, but i laughed too much
38I also saw Waitress with my mom, which was really special. We also love watching the LL Parent Trap and TLC "What Not to Wear"
39all of them. all three of CSI, Lost, House, Prison Break, Dawson's Creek...
