Yes, it's so clearly "My Best Friend's Wedding!" I'm actually a little surprised this one is coming out so soon after it (okay, not soon, but soon enough for us to all remember.)

I was also wondering if he was really "made" of honor. Now that I know he's not, this movie just seems worse.

*Sigh* It's called "Made of Honor" because he must be /Made/ of honor to be the Maid of Honor. Not saying I like it. It just is.

i thought the title meant that he was honorable in some way, that would have made sense, but now that i see it's not, it makes the movie look so much worse.

I like the title just the way it is. I think it's perfect.

looking at the tagline from the poster it says... "it takes a real man to become a maid of honor". having not seen the movie, but going off your review buzz, it sounds like that might be the only place it's touched on... just saying that only a "real" man "made of honor" could be "maid of honor". too bad patch doesn't show any "honor" in the movie...? also, "maid in manhattan" was already taken...?

Fiori got it- he's MADE of honor, get it, he's honorable. Yes, it's stupid. I didn't really get it until Buzz asked this and I started thinking about it...

I think what's bothering me more than the title is the fact that McDreamy's hair looks really bad in this movie

They should have made the title with a pun like "Altar-ego".

I have not seen it but I assumed it was because he was "made of honor" in the way he would behave at the end of the movie, i.e. my best friend's wedding ended an honorable way (if you haven't seen it I won't reveal the ending) and then a play on maid of honor. I don't know the ending of this movie so it may not be right.

Since I had a Man of Honor at my wedding, that probably would have made a better title . . . but then it might have been confused with the Cuba Gooding Jr. Navy hero movie, Men of Honor.

Yeah. . . flori, I get it. See, the issue is, this character is never honorable at all in the movie. He's not even remotely "made" of honor.
It simply doesn't apply to anything at all in the movie.

How about this movie is just like My Best Friend's wedding starring Julia Roberts. Love Patrick dempsey but prefer him in Can't Buy Me Love.

I actually thought it was called "Maid of Honor" until I saw a commercial for it. I thought that it was really cute. I still was only mildly interested and didn't/don't plan on paying money to see it. Plus I thought it was less, well, emasculating for Patrick Dempsey.
But after reading thins and finding that he's not exactly, well, made of honor, I don't know.
Oooh, maybe it's to make Dempsey's situation clear to people who aren't familiar with it. That makes a lot of sense to me.

Also, as far as fiori's comment, when you think about it, maids of honor aren't necessarily more honorable either.

Ohh, OK, NOW I've got it: The "honor" is the honor bestowed on him by the bride in choosing him for the role. He's BEING honored by someone else, necessarily being honorable himself.
Oh, but he's still not MADE of honor then. (I really thought I had it for a second.)

So, to conclude this stream of consciousness, Man of Honor might have been more appropriate, but it doesn't convey the fact that he's put in a traditionally female role.

As far as marketing, I think they made (haha, "made") the right choice. Plus, I'm a sucker for puns.

Methinks we may be analyzing this a too much. Perhaps we're more critical than the general masses

I think the answer to that would just be that it'd be harder on people covering the story. Newspapers, blogs (although we have the technology!), and especially perhaps prompts at the bottom of the screen when castmembers etc make promotional tv appearances).
I was going to say that people might have trouble figuring out what to call it when they talk about it (maid or made?), but I just realize that the entire point is that they sound the same.
