I know that it's a big-budget movie with lots of big-name actors that's spending a lot of money on TV ads, but really: Wild Hogs?!? Yes, the perplexing buddy-meets-biker movie with a "did I read that right?" cast — John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, Tim Allen, and William H. Macy — was No. 1 at the box office this weekend, bringing in $38 million in its first three days.

Zodiac, which I liked quite a lot, came in at No. 2. Since I basically ignored the very existence of Wild Hogs, I'm a bit startled that so many moviegoers — given a choice between this movie, 2007 Oscar winners, and even Black Snake Moan — a failed experiment but at least it's thought-provoking — thought, "Hey, that Wild Hogs movie looks pretty good."
Did any of you see it? Let us discuss; read more
Popwatch blogger Michael Slezak watched Wild Hogs so we don't have to, and it sounds truly woeful. In one scene, Tim Allen apparently chugs gravy and eats a stick of butter. Ew. Also, poor, poor Marisa Tomei. Let's watch the trailer again, then ponder: What, exactly, about this movie appeals to people?

I am going to go see Black Snake Moan on Wednesday.
1WILD HOGS????????????????????? This is what America went to see this weekend? How pitiful. I saw Zodiac and enjoyed it very much. Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey were excellent, but Jake Jiggyhall just doesn't do it for me.

It breaks my heart that the wonderful William H. Macy is in this stupid looking movie. It makes me want to cry.
3it looks dumb but it's getting pretty good user reviews on yahoo movies (and like D- from critics LOL)
4I'm supposed to go see this tonight after work with a friend. "Dumb" movie or not...it looks like it'll be funny! And even great actors like Mr. Macy can make a silly comedy every now and then. I can't wait to see it.
5Just watched "The Slums of Beverly Hills" again this weekend, and was reminded of how GREAT Marissa Tomei can be. Can't believe she was in this. Sigh.
6I totally picture a domino effect with this movie's casting -- they got one name, and then the next actor they approached thought, "maybe it DOESN'T suck that bad if actor X is doing it" and all of a sudden you have 5 big names in a really sh*tty movie.
