Oh, How I Met Your Mother. Not only did they bring us a legen — wait for it — dary kiss last night, they also premiered the long-awaited B-side to Robin Sparkles' "Let's Go to the Mall," a mournful breakup ballad called "Sandcastles in the Sand." We got a preview of the video last week, but that didn't make the ultimate reveal any less amusing. (Admittedly, my biggest laugh in the episode came from a well-timed Degrassi joke — but that could just be me.)
The overwrought, obviously-written-by-a-16-year-old ballad included lines like "Together we were going to travel the globe/from Alberta to Ontrario," an awesomely bad makeout session with a character played by James Van Der Beek, and cameos from Tiffany and Alan Thicke to bring real '80s cred. I think the best description might be Barney's from the episode: "You know, if you re-edit it, there's a tampon commercial in there somewhere." It also made me think of this Wilson Phillips video for the first time in a decade or so, which I suppose is something to be proud of.

I have been waiting for Barney and Robin to happened for like forever. LOVE IT!!!! LOVED IT!!! Best episode ever and James Van Der Beek blew Britney out the water.
1This episode was HILARIOUSSSSS!!! And though I wasn't expecting Robin and Barney, it TOTALLY makes more sense than her and Ted. Also - The video was amaaazing!
2I was really surprised too with Robin and Barney, but it could be a new and interesting twist. I even liked Barney a little more when he referred to Robin "as the most awesome person he knew." Also, Lily being all hip with her HS friend was great too.
3While I was totally shocked to see the Robin/Barney kiss, it will bring some great drama to the show. They're so ripe for a secret illicit relationship that will all unravel during the finale.
4I loved how the lyrics mimics what really happened - "It was the greatest week and a half of my life", and later they date for a whole week and a half.
The rumor about the Robin/Barney hookup has been out on the internet for a while, so I was not surprised by it. I just think it is a bad idea.
5Since they came back from the strike every episode robin and barney have been flirting. I have been waiting for this. They are perfect for each other - Aunt Robin and Uncle Barney.
6Legen wait for it dary!! I loved this episode, I thought this video was the best thing to come after 'lets go to the mall' I love the make out in the video and the "i'm on the pill now" Just great! Love the whole barney thing, I wanted them to hook up!
7This was one of the best episodes! I enjoyed the music video-- but the other two songs were better and more singable. I think the point was that it was really bad- so it worked. And Robin and Barney were actually a little sweet. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

10jlr32 — Near the beginning, when Robin says she has an old friend coming into town, Barney teases her with "Someone you went to Degrassi with?" (Among the many other things Barney would proceed to tease her with, of course.)

I loved it, Robin Sparkles is the best.
All the Canada jokes were too funny, plus I love only about 20 min from Canada and I deal with Canadians daily which made it even funnier.
13It was great. As campy (suppose to be)as it was did remind me if the 80's and being in love *lust* with the bad boy LOL.
14I don't think it was as great as the previous two videos, but it was still hilarious. One of my friends has been calling for Barney + Robin to become an item since last year - because Bob Saget's narrations always calls them "Aunt Robin and Uncle Barney," kinda like if they were a couple.
15Loved the episode last night! Haha James Van Der Beek rocked, and Robin Sparkles is always awesome to watch. Loved the Lily bit too. I knew Robin and Barney were going to hook up sometime! I saw it coming already during that episode last season when Robin and Barney hung out at that cigar bar and played laser tag together.
