Hooray for Hermione! I mean, Emma Watson. Still, Emma's longtime Harry Potter role has endeared her to me so much, I am thrilled whenever I hear good news about her. And this news sounds great: Emma will play the lead female role in the period drama Napoleon and Betsy, taking over for Scarlett Johansson who left the part because it "skewed younger." Scarlett will still be a producer on the film.
According to Hollywood Reporter, "Watson will play Betsy Balcombe, a young, impetuous noblewoman trapped on the isolated British Isle of St. Helena who falls in love with Napoleon, who is in exile on the island."
No word yet as to who will play Napoleon, so let's brainstorm. Who could you see playing Napoleon opposite Emma?

emma is such a cutie!!!
1The actor playing Napoleon would probably have to be in his mid to late 40s, right? Hmm, I can't really think of anyone right now...
2tom cruise...he'd just have to take out his lifts.
3Johnny Depp. Right age. Right height. And he's such a chameleon as an actor that he can always come up with the right look.
4james mcavoy!!
5i'm excited that she'll be the lead actress in this film! i think she'll have a great career, as i think she is a fine actress.
as for the male lead...hmm...i think johnny depp might make this too comedic, but then again - is that what this is? a period comedy? could be, and then Johnny Depp would work well.
6oh. i guess you have that it is a drama. i think, maybe i don't know
7A fine actress? Have you never endured the rath of The Eyebrows? Every line she spoke in the past Harry Potter films sounded like she was frustrated ALL the time. I'm no fan of Scarlett, but better her than Emma.
8Ohhh I'm interested! I love th HP trio.. I was especially disppointed when I went to pick out my fave actors and only Dan and Emma were options. No love for Rupert, Sugar girls?
Hmmm.. for Emma's co-star in this one, I'd like to see Gerard Butler or maybe Jude Law. I definitely feel like they could pull off the strangely endearing exile vibe.
9Oh yay! I'm happy she's lining up some non-Potter vehicles for herself! I'm not totally convinced yet about her innate acting abilities, so it will be interesting to see how she performs outside the Potter franchise.
10I enjoy watching Emma too.
11Adrien Brody!
12Wow, lucky Emma! I hope she has more projects to come! I love her!
13For Napoleon? Johnny Depp can do the part (effortlessly, I presume)..
Rupert Grint! Just kidding. I think James McAvoy is a great suggestion.
14DEFINATELY could see James McAvoy.
15yes - I agree with James McAvoy! although Gerard Butler isnt a bad option either!
