OK, putting aside for a moment how much I so thoroughly can't imagine Teen Witch being palatable outside of the 1980s — even more so than most of the remakes being done these days — I am curious about the casting for it. Apparently, High School Musical's Ashley Tisdale may take on the role of Louise Miller, "the unpopular girl who discovers that she's a descendant of witches — and possesses powers" in a remake of the 1989 flick.
The original Louise Miller was played by Robyn Lively, and if they have to move forward with this project, why not keep it in the family and cast Robyn's sister, Blake Lively of Gossip Girl? At least that would be sort of funny. Or something.
However, there's a bigger question at hand: Who will play Louise's rap-happy best girlfriend? If you're unsure of what this role entails, please, for the love of all things holy, watch the "Top That" clip from Teen Witch after the jump. You may never be the same again.

1Well, no one cares about Robyn anymore and I seriously doubt that Blake would do a role this cheesy, and I say that not being a Blake fan at all.
I think its a great role for Ash. She loves the cheese. And I love her!

Seriously, this is like the only scene from this movie I remember. I think I saw it very shortly after it came out (so I was what, in first grade?) but this scene has always stuck with me.

5I love this movie!! I've seen it many many times as a teen. I can't believe they're going to remake it though, WHY?!?! Hollywood, please stop doing remakes!!! It's soo lame. (If they EVER remake Steel Magnolias, I'm gonna be sooo mad)

I love that movie... they will totally ruin it! This movie is a classic, some movies are just better left alone. It works in the 80's, i would hate to see how they would update it.

24I love this much! I think Ashley can do a good job. Since it's also a musical, I think it can be done in a good way, since it's what Ashley is mostly associated with.

27When I was a kid we rented this movie, and my mom stopped the tape and then fast-forwarded through the make-out scene. (We were really young though, it was probably '90 or '91 if we rented it, so I was only 1st or 2nd grade).
Whenever I see this movie on cable (usually at Halloween of course), I HAVE to watch it! That and Hocus Pocus, are my Halloween guilty pleasures!
Also, WoW, totally didn't know that girl is the sister of the girl in Gossip Girl (I don't watch it though). That's cool.

ugh! this is my favorite movie of all time! i thought no one had heard of it until i randomly fell on this page. WHY ASHLEY TISDALE??? WHY??? im dissapointed they are remaking this film, there just going to ruin it. the whole idea behind teen witch was a cute girl who didnt realize it was made into the popular chick. ashley tisdale is NOT cute. this is just wrong. BOO!!!!!!

I so love this movie! I don't want a remake, but if they do DON'T, DON'T, DON'T, have Ashley Tisdale in it. I can't stand her at all, she sucks big time. Also I think Robin should play some role, and Dan Gauthier (Brad) should play a role too. Maybe Louise's parents, or Robin could play the drama teacher, etc just ideas. Get some up coming actress that has talent, but isn't widely known. I get sick of seeing the same freakin actress' esp play in everything. Give someone else a chance. Especially when some of them are like in their 20's, 30's, or so come on! There are plenty of up and commers or not as well known who are just waiting for a shot. Don't get me wrong I don't see how they could update this movie cause they would have to update the songs, and I actually like the songs in the movie now. You know they'd try and rap like "most popular girl", hardcore rap or hip hop. It wouldn't be the same effect which made us love this movie in the first place. Plus updating the abandon house scene, what they'd actually have sex? Please don't remake this movie, or if you do don't butcher it with Tisdale in the role cause I won't watch it, and will downgrade it to anyone interested so they won't want to see it.
