Could the 90210 spinoff be getting one of the original residents of the zip code to join the cast? That's the speculation after Jennie Garth left her CBS pilot suddenly after a read-through on Monday.
Garth was supposed to play the female lead in My Best Friend's Girl, a comedy about tension that develops between two best friends when one starts dating the other's wife, but she left in what was described as "a mutual decision." And the Hollywood Reporter says Rob Thomas, who wrote the original script for the spinoff, had been courting her to return as Kelly Taylor — possibly playing a fashion design teacher at Beverly Hills High.
The story notes that Garth might have left the CBS show for other reasons, including the recent death of her father. But let's just go with the 90210 speculation for a moment: Would that be a step up for the show — or a step down for Garth? Would you be more or less inclined to watch the spinoff if Kelly Taylor were a regular on your TV screen again? After all, she was one of your favorites . . .
Meanwhile, Tori Spelling desperately wants to join the show, which seems like it just spells disaster all around. No word yet on whether she's been contacted by the producers, but for some reason, I'm going to guess no.

I just saw this on lilsugar! Oh yeah baybee!! I want my Kelly Taylor back.
1I'm just not feeling this spinoff...but I guess it's better than a 100% rehash.
2IDK, I would love to see jennie back on TV, sure! But the spinoff of 90210 just doesn't sound that great to me. I hope it does well. I wouldn't mind seeing Tori on too. And, why would Kelly Taylor be a fashion design teacher?? Didn't she major in psychology in college?? How about making her a guidance counselor! Bring Tori back as the multi tasking, fashion designing, married to David Silver mom down the street!
3Yah totally would watch it more than if Kelly was on it. Would really love it if Donna would be on there and maybe david. Oh Brandon and Valerie... maybe Andrea. Oh the tall guy, Steve. Dylan for sure. Brenda would be cool to see. Claire, definitely!!!
wait.

Bri!!!
5was it kelly or donna that opened the boutique there towards the end of 90210?
6I love me some Kelly Taylor. I always thought she was adorable, but Donna? NO!!! Tori Spelling is so incredibly annoying and homely (that is horrible. I am sorry, but ick!)
7I'd be excited to see her back on 90210.. Her character was one of my favorites so I have tried to keep up with her whether it be television shows or DWTS. I saw an adorable picture of her with her family all wearing crocs...and read a piece by her at ParentsConnect.com discussing being a mom... She definitely seemed like a real and down to earth type of mother...
Which makes me wonder if she would have kids on the show???
8sarah, Donna opened the boutique, but Kelly was a partner with her. I think Kelly just worked there mostly though. I don't think she had any major fashion input. I believe the store sold Donna's clothing.
9I'd check it out for Jennie, but not for Tori.
10Bad move, Jennie. I am sure this will bomb.
11I don't really know if i mind seeing either of these on the show because i don't even know if i'm watching. But I think its funny how i haven't heard anything about the show contacting Tori and how she's telling everybody about the characters she wants to play. " I think they only owe it to the fans to have me come back as Donna Martin."
12Please, no Tori.
13I love Jennie Garth, I loved the original 90210, and I loved her character. But I'm still SO annoyed that they're re-doing this show that I doubt I'd watch it.
14jv, come on! jennie is old school. dylan will be her hubby (in my fantasy) and brenda will visit and have a fling with him
just like days of old
hope it's true!
15why would kelly be a fashion design teacher though. donna is the fashion mind at the store - and kelly just did the business stuff. oh well...
16i wouldn't if tori spelling returned
