"Las Vegas" is one of those shows that just seems to keep trucking along. The drama, which airs Friday nights, gets lost in the shuffle for me, but apparently it's doing well: NBC just renewed it for a fifth season.
But in a weird twist, two of the show's stars won't be back: James Caan (also known as The Godfather's Sonny Corleone) says he wants to get back into film, while Nikki Cox apparently got axed because of budget cuts. Which seems odd for a show the network just decided to bring back, but hey, I don't pretend to understand Hollywood. Weirdly, both Caan and Cox were mentioned in NBC's press release about the renewal. Don't they coordinate these things?
The good news: Breakout star Josh Duhamel is sticking around for now. And longtime fans, take note: TV Guide's Michael Ausiello reports that former "Las Vegas" star Marsha Thomason will turn up on "Lost" later this season.

When this show first came out, I loved it...so did The Man. Then, he had golf league and quit watching it...I quit when they moved it to fridays. Too much partying to do!! (And by "partying" I mean passing out on the couch at 8 pm.)
1Oh, and I wish Sam was leaving the show instead of Nikki Cox...Nikki's char. got a little whiney, but Sam is just a non-believable character, who's motives and characteristics seem to morph into whatever the show needs them to. (Sometimes she's sweet, sometimes she's a b*tch, sometimes she's just a dirty hoe.) But something else bugs me REALLY bad and I think it's her nose or her eyes.
2I have mixed emotions about this. I love Las Vegas. My husband got me into it. But...he stopped watching it 2 seasons ago. I saw Vanessa on Ellen saying how she had doubts about them coming back for another season, so I guess at this point she is just thrilled to have a job. And I don't know how in the world it will carry on without James/Ed. Hello? Josh/Danny may be gorgeous, but James is the real talent. Lately, some episodes are really really good, and others are like, OMG... I can't believe I just wasted an hour of my life watching this swill....so cheers to another year! After the switch to Friday nights, I didn't think it was possible!
3Budget Cuts??? Come on? Can't they come up with a better reason this sounds fishy! A big show like this with budget cuts?
4I love this type of trashy Las Vegas based show. If you guys like Las Vegas you should check out Sin City Diaries http://www.sincityonmax.com/
It follows a concierge (like Sam)...I came upon it a couple days ago on TV. Enjoy!
5Las Vegas is an awesome show we will miss it.
