According to EW, Matthew McConaughey has been offered the role of Thomas Magnum in a film version of the 1980s hit show. He's reportedly reading the script now and will make a decision soon.
Made iconic by the mustached Tom Selleck, Magnum is many things: a ladies' man, a former US Navy Seal who served during the Vietnam War, a best friend, a thorn in Higgins' side. Most of all, Magnum is not afraid to tango with the bad guys of Hawaii and drives a Ferrari.
What do you think about this casting possibility? Could McConaughey embody the Magnum?

i'm so sick of everything 80's being remade - not that i don't love the 80's, i grew up in them. but seriously can't we make some original stuff now a days? We've seen Starsky & Hutch, Miami Vice, Transformers, G.I. Joe....i know there's a bunch more but that's all i can think of off the top of my head.

13I can keep an open mind and MMisn't a bad choise vut I think I would like to see some other options of actors to play the role. Maybe the script has changed the Magnum character a bit to be more Mathew McConaughey-esque
14I can see it because he has the charisma and attitude to back to sustain the roll. I loved that show, my mom loved that show and her mom loved that show. You need a man who women from multiple generations all agree is swoon worthy and MM is perfect.

15certain things about mcconaughey absolutely--the charm, hotness, etc. but he often plays such dopey mindless characters...not that magnum was exactly a rocket scientist. could be fun!
