The big ol' Oscars get all of the attention, but the Film Independent Spirit Awards are the a nice little antidote to all of the Academy Awards' grandness. Held on the Saturday night before the Oscars, this year's ceremony honored one major Best Picture nominee (Little Miss Sunshine) and some great little pictures that could, like Half Nelson.
