It's not often that music written for a documentary gets nominated for a Best Song Oscar. In fact, it's not often that a documentary gets nominated for anything but Best Documentary, so perhaps this bodes well for An Inconvenient Truth's chances of taking home a statuette.
I'm not usually the biggest Melissa Etheridge fan, but as far as Oscar songs go, her "I Need to Wake Up" isn't half bad. I think this song worked perfectly at the end of the film. The song combined with the messages flashing on the screen worked well in reminding the audience that it was in our hands to "wake up" and do something.

2I just can't wait to see what Melissa wears on the red carpet. We know that Al Gore will be dapper and Tipper will have big hair.
