
Unlike some of its more accessible Canadian brethren, such as the Arcade Fire and the New Pornographers, the British Columbia quintet Frog Eyes isn't out to hook you at first listen. But spend a little time with the tracks, and you might find them just as enticing. Though the band is most often compared to Tom Waits, I hear something more like David Bowie without the pop tendencies and all of the weirdness. This new track "Bushels" — at once jarring and jubilant — is off the band's next album, Tears of the Valedictorian, which comes out May 1 on Absolutely Kosher. To listen, read more
