When I first heard that Prince was playing the Super Bowl Halftime Show, I wasn't sure what to expect. After all, we haven't heard from Prince in a while, so it was equally possible that he would totally rule or just come off as a washed-up former rock star.
What we got was arguably the best Halftime Show in years: Not only did Prince actually seem to be having a great time, but he reminded us of the awesome talent that only a man comfortable in a sea-foam green suit can emanate. His voice sounded stellar, and he pulled out all the stops on the guitar. In case you missed it, here are the highlights from the show:
- Prince managing to look cool while wearing a little kerchief to protect him from the rain.
- A rockin' cover of "Proud Mary" with the glow-in-the-dark FAMU marching band.
- The back-lit silhouette of the artist playing a ridiculous Prince-symbol-shaped guitar in front of a fluttering flap of fabric.
- Plenty of improvisational outbursts, including air kisses and lines like: "Somebody take my picture/ with all this rain in sight!"
- A "Purple Rain" guitar solo in the pouring rain.

I completely agree!! Purple Rain gave me chills.. I almost didn't want the game to start back up!
1I loved it!!! I was SO hoping that it wouldn't be a dissapointment, and I thought he did an awesome job!
2I loved it, but I was the only one at the party I was at that thought Prince rocked.
3I don't think the Superbowl was the best place for his comeback. It was boring and didn't fit at all IMO.
4Amazing show..just amazing.
5I wish I could've seen this, I love Prince. I watch a lot of awful award shows if I hear a rumour that he might be performing.
6AMAZING! Furthered my campaign to be sure to see a Prince concert before he stops touring.
7I want to go to a Prince concert too
I could have sworn he turned the rain purple at
the Superbowl!
8I thought he was great - there have been a lot more "unfitting" acts that played the Half-time show. And Prince appeals to a much wider audience than Justin Timberlake.
The one part that bugged me was when he got his cool-shaped guitar and said "Can I play THIS??" then the tarp flew up...I think it was a cover because he WASN'T ... just my theory...The Man told me to cut him some slack seeing how it was raining...electric guitar...blah blah blah.
But otherwise VERY good...and I thought he did an excellent cover of the Fighters of Foo (Best of You?).
9Prince was amazing. One of the greatest halftime shows in recent memory.
10I agree Jason!
11Prince is a great performer...i've seen him in concert and last night's performance was great BUT, I didn't think the Superbowl was the place for him.
GUYS watch football and some girls, myself included enjoy it too but I think someone like Christina Augillera or another female performer would have attracted more of a viewing...
But he was good!

Great show. I feel bad now for being skeptical beforehand!
13There is clearly something about Prince that I just don't get. He's short and odd looking, and I honestly didn't think his performance was that great. I must be missing something.
14AWESOME
15OK, I know I'm going to be showing my age here, but this album came out when I was in a Junior in High School, it brings back SO many memories, and Purple Rain?.....Prince doesn't get any better than that, it was PERFECT! The rain, the purple lit up stage, and every time I hear the guitar in that song I get chill bumps! I thought the show was amazing!
16I was Thrilled that he did Purple Rain.
