Until recently, I never much cared for Ryan Adams, the insanely prolific alt-country rocker who cut his teeth in the North Carolina band Whiskeytown. Then, Lost Highway records sent me a copy of Jacksonville City Nights, one of the three albums Adams released with his band, the Cardinals, in the past two years. Unlike Adams' other more rock-oriented albums, this one leans heavily toward Gram Parsons-style country, and the more subdued mood really suits me. This is the kind of song that I always think I hate until I actually listen to it. I love that you post a variety of songs for song of the day - it gets me to listen to such different things!
1I'm with you, Buzz. I loved Heartbreaker but I haven't been a fan of any of his other stuff until this record came out.
I love and miss Whiskeytown, though.
