I'm firmly on the fence about Sarah Silverman, whose "Sarah Silverman Program" premieres Thursday at 10:30 p.m. on Comedy Central. Sometimes, she cracks me up, and other times her whole "shock everyone with my daring political incorrectness, then stare at them with wide, innocent eyes" schtick just makes me squirm. But I'm still curious to check out this show, in part because it co-stars Jay Johnston and Brian Posehn, whom I came to love back on "Mr. Show."
"The Sarah Silverman Program" is supposed to be TV that makes fun of TV, sending up the American sitcom with a jaunty theme song about poo, random melodramatic musical numbers, and wacky characters like the gay neighbors, the helpful cop, and the super-close sister (played by Silverman's real-life sister, Laura). It's a good idea, but I'm not sure if it will work or fall flat. What do you think? To see a couple of clips, read more

I didn't know she was a comedienne until I saw her on Amnesty International's Secret Policeman's ball. I thought she was quite funny in parts, but I could imagine her act getting old if viewed on a weekly basis.
1I want so much to like her. I have an offbeat and wacky sense of humor, but she annoys the piss out of me.
Some of the stuff she says is funny, but it would be much funnier if someone else said it. She just grates on my nerves. And I didn't think that either of those clips were that funny.
2My only problem with her is that she reuses her material sooo much all you need to watch is Jesus is Magic and never watch anything else she appears on. But I'm excited for her show because she has to use new material every week. Here's one of my favorites.

3I am on the fencse about her too. Some of her stuff is so oddly funny and some just feels to overworked. I'll watch and see.
4I have mixed feelings about watching the show based on the clips and the reviews that I've seen so far. If she's fresh, it'll work, but I'm not convinced that she can keep it going week after week.
5Last night's episode was watchable and I, too, want to like her...but I don't think she can carry a whole season.
6Heh-color me amused. I shall continue to tune in. And is that Heroes' Masi Oka in the previews???
'Two small beers and three hours of stomach-knotting relaxation later, he would go back to his bunk and spend half the night awake, praying to a God he didn't believe in for a miracle that couldn't happen.'
