MTV's sure-it's-fake-but-who-cares "reality" show The Hills starts the second part of its third season tonight, with Whitney and Lauren heading to Paris and all sorts of scandal going down back home in LA (here's a clip). From the comments when I posted the trailer for the season, I know many of you watch the show even though you're kind of embarrassed to admit it. Personally, I have been known to call it "my guiltiest guilty pleasure." Where does it fall on your guilt vs. pleasure index?

I don't watch this show - never have never will!
1I'm happy to say that I'm completely addicted to this show... With no guilty feelings at all!
2I don't watch MTV in general. It's supposed to be a music channel, but it's not really about music anymore, and even when it does have something, it doesn't really involve music I actually like.
3LOVE IT!
4I have never watched this show and don't plan on it
5Kind of funny that the majority of people on this site dont watch the show, yet we are inundated with posts, and pictures of it as if we were rabid fans.....I say, post what the people want! and its not this show....
6I'm sorry but it's strange to me that grown adults watch shows like "The Hills" and "Gossip Girl"... in my opinion anyone over the age of 21 or so watching those shows is kind of sad, there is such better and smarter programming out there.
7i think that i used to feel bad about watching it or guilty i guess..but now - it's ok for me to admit it and enjoy it. i like the show - i don't know why but i do.
8i don't make an effort to watch it- but on weekends when i'm lazy and they have marathons- i tend to tune in while i'm doing things like clean!
9I don't feel guilty at all. It is only a half hour nothing to worry about.
10Why is it so popular? It appears most people don't watch it... it confuses me....
I'm just sick of these "reality" shows in general.
11Not only do I not watch it, but I am so tired of hearing about it.
12I stopped watching MTV about 10 years ago.
13oh please, since when is 21 was the magic tv cut off age. besides I watch plenty of good, smart tv, why should i feel guilty about watching something mindlessly entertaining as well?
14em113- my thoughts exactly!
15You have Tobias Funke as your avatar, so I can forgive that. I don't really care if someone watches something kind of mindless sometimes anyway, as long as I don't have to.
16I don't know...I don't feel necessarily guilty about it because I know a lot of other people watch it as well. I'm not obsessed about it but I'm still interested in it for some reason despite the fact some lines on the show make me crack up because its so ludicrous.
17No guilt here!
18Equal amount
It's ADDICTIVE and should come with a "warning" for it! (In a
"Jackass"-kind-of-way!)
19No guilt and lots of pleasure because I DO NOT WATCH it at all and I never will!
Seriously, I've never even channel surfed past it. Ha!
20"I'm sorry but it's strange to me that grown adults watch shows like "The Hills" and "Gossip Girl"... in my opinion anyone over the age of 21 or so watching those shows is kind of sad, there is such better and smarter programming out there."
I have no problem watching mindless entertainment and I am 28. I work almost 9 hours a day and the LAST thing I want to do is go home and watch something serious!! Long live GOSSIP GIRL, THE HILLS, TRUE LIFE, THE OFFICE, AND ALL OTHER POINTLESS TELEVISION FOR THOSE OF US THAT HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR AND ARE ALREADY SMART ENOUGH!!!!
21i'm not a fan of lauren but i do love this show. i hope it is more whitney and lo this season!
22I love watching these girls lie to everyone. This show is just like cotton candy-pointless but fun.
23putting the office, in the same category as the Hills is like saying bologna is the same as spanish Jabugo Ham.
2421 isn't the "magic cut off age"... I was simply stating my opinion. I don't think there's anything wrong with reality or mindless television, I just feel there's a lot better shows out there to watch. I agree with Caterpillar Girl that putting "The Office" in the same category as "The Hills" is ridiculous... they are two completely different types of shows, and IN MY OPINION "The Office" is a well written, smart, very funny show... "The Hills" is simply a Soap opera... if you like Soap operas good for you... it's your preference.
25I'm with WhiplashGirlchild (and j2e1n9, and CaterpillarGirl): I don't watch it, have zero plans to, and am sick of hearing about it!
And apparently... I'm in the majority! Now if only sites would actually takes polls like this to heart and stop reporting on these non-stars we'd get a break from the non-news of their daily goings on we'd really be onto something.
26I'm not too fond of these types of shows (O.C., Laguna Beach, The Hills, to name a few).
27looking forward to tonight
28I love the show, I don't have any guilt at all.
29I find it hilarious that some of you, who actually call others "stupid," think you're "in the majority" for voting that you don't watch the show. You're just factually wrong. Look at this poll. The "don't watch the show" option currently has 38% of the vote. Alllll the other votes — the majority — voted for one of the options that indicate that they do watch the show. Get it?
30The hills is so bad. i have seen the show. i am personally insulted by the whole premise of it being real life. this is not reality. half the time these people talk like someone wrote it for them, and all the scenes are so staged. its WHACK. Esp. the heidi/spencer thing/ why are these brats FAMOUS?? because of you guilty pleasure people. try something of substance like the family guy, curb your enthusiasm, THE WIRE.. email me if you need more suggestions. FACE
31this is pretty hilarious...anyway, i'm a 28 year old night law student with a day job and i've got plenty of "smarts" that occupy my days...so yes i watch this show and i LOVE IT and i have no guilt...along with gossip girl, ANTM, one tree hill..90210 and gilmore girls reruns too!
of course, i'm usually in school when these things are on but i try to catch up on weekends if i can swing it!
32caramel latte: There are 2 categories that skew positively (love it/no guilt), 1 neutral (equally guilty & pleasurable), and 3 negative (have guilt/don't watch the show). As of right now, 48% voted negatively to 36% "positive" which does seem to indicate that more people feel negatively than positively about the show - no?
I'm not making judgment calls about people who choose to watch the show or not. I'm just tired about the quantity of posts about the girls from this particular show, and it seems like many posters above feel the same way.
33Definitely not a fan of the show. To be quite honest, I don't really care what drama Heidi and Spencer are having at the moment or what boy Lauren is dating or whatever. I do like reality shows, don't get me wrong, but ones that actually have meaning-searching for love/playing for money/etc. Not a bunch of wealthy kids who were lucky enough to score a deal with MTV and be launched into stardom. It's sad to think of all the REALLY talented people out there who aren't being given the chance to shine because they are competing against "celebrities" like this.
34No thanks ... I don't watch stuff like Desperate Housewives or any of the reality shows, either. TV programming sucks anymore.
35I have no guilt in watching The Hills. I love LC, and I love to make fun of Spencer and Heidi. =)
36you know, to be honest I didn't even know what the Hills was until I came to sugar land last summer...
so maybe teamsugar really does have stock in the hills, or lauren conrad's fashion line or heidi and spencer's "music" because seriously the amount of content about this show on
Team Sugar is absolutely ABSURD!
37The Office and The Hills are both funny (to me). Thus, they are in the same category (to me). Geez, there are some touchy people on this thread....
38don't take it personally citizen, I think they're are just quite a few of us that are sick and tired of hearing about this show
39I can understand, Syako....I am that way about Lost. I think its horrible....but I am in the minority!
40siren6, if anyone is voting for any of the options besides "eh, I don't watch this show," it indicates that they do watch it and they're just voting on how "guilty" (or not) this pleasure is for them — it's still some kind of a pleasure (or "all guilt," but that still implies that they watch it because if they don't, why not choose the "don't watch" option?), and they still watch it. Bottom line, the people who are selecting the option that they don't watch it at all are in the minority. And while there are lots of comments against the show, there are also comments by people who like it. And I'm sure at this point, the people who like it won't want to comment only to be called "stupid."
41This show has a huge audience — for better or for worse. I can easily understand why people want to write about it and talk about it. You may not like the show, but it is popular, so of course websites are going to want to cover it.
yea there are so many LOST posts i cant stand it....
42Yeah, that one post about Lost per week is a real chore, huh?
43i dont even know what it's about
44Ok, I've met L.C. and she is NOT friendly, she's kinda of a b****. I ran into her in the bathroom(not our 1st meeting) and told her that i gave these Canadian college bball players VIP tickets to get into a lounge at a sports event we were all at(in LA)...those poor guys were dying to get a photo w/her! It's not like they were weird or psycho, they were funny. She just replied "I'm not going in there" I really couldn't say much.. But as she left the event those guys called out her name and she turned to them, but then walked away when they asked if they could take a photo w/her. Totally snubbed them
she's eewwwww...
45I love to watch it, my friends and I get together for a girls night when it comes on.
