We just got a couple new full-length trailers for movies that, if watching them in a sober state, are pretty much . . . OK. It makes me wonder if maybe — just maybe — they're supposed to be watched under the influence? I'm just speculating here.

Opening August 8, Pineapple Express actually features a pair of potheads — played by Seth Rogen and James Franco — who find themselves being chased by criminals. My favorite parts include Craig Robinson (Darryl on The Office), who's funny even without playing someone with the munchies.
We'd already gotten a tripped-out teaser trailer for Speed Racer, and the full-length trailer is a lot of the same: psychedelic visuals, bright candy colors, cartoon-y characters (since it's, you know, based on a cartoon). I'm more interested in this one because it's just mesmerizing, though I do have to wonder what it might be like to view this film in, shall we say, an enhanced state.

i saw the trailer for Speed Racer the other day and although i'm probably not going to see the movie since it's not my style - i guess it's kind of looking cool.
1Is it just me, or has the idea that they were coming out with a Speed Racer movie been around for a long time now?
I am just wondering what took it so long.
Also, I feel as though I had heard Elijah Wood was going to be the main character.
Am I totally making this all up?

3Since I'm a HUGE fan of the cartoon and a not-so-huge fan of remakes, I was planning to boycott this movie. Now that I've seen the trailer, though, I'll be seeing this with as much enthusiasm as I already have reserved for the Sex and the City movie.

7I never much liked Speed Racer anyway, so I probably won't see that - at least not in theaters. I might go see the other one, if I have the right company.

The Pineapple Express doesn't look as good as I hoped it would be. But its cool that they used M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" in the trailer.
9The only reason I WILL see Speed Racer is because of Emile Hirsch, otherwise, I'd have no interest.
10Oh dude, Pineapple Express looks rad. Personally I think Darryl from the Office should be in all movies. But the whole thing looks crazy and awesome. Too bad my pot smoking days are far far behind me, but I hope it's enjoyable nonetheless! Plus yeah, props for using MIA.
I couldn't see the Speed Racer one, but I'm pretty uninterested in that one anyway. I thought I had heard Elijah Wood was attached too... but maybe it's just because he looks the part so perfectly.
