ER has already aired its 300th episode and outlived virtually all the other series that premiered in 1994. Now, it appears that the stalwart Thursday night medical drama is likely to return for a 15th season in the Fall.
The producers seem pretty confident that they'll cut things off after No. 15, though — and so they're starting to court some of the show's former stars to see if they'd be willing to return for one last go-round at County General. Noah Wyle is already set to return as Dr. Carter for four episodes, and Goran Visnjic is expected to pop in as well. Maura Tierney had previously said she'd leave after this season, but it sounds like she'd be around for at least some of this final round.
What about Eriq LaSalle, Julianna Margulies, or — the prize of all prizes — George Clooney? One of the top producers told Entertainment Weekly they'd love to bring everyone back, saying:
"We want to revisit characters that have existed on the show over the years and say where they are now. We'd love to get them all back in some way, but that doesn't mean we're going to. But we're gonna try."
So, ER watchers, tell me: Which former characters would you most like to see return? Are there any you could live without? And, even if you stopped watching ER years ago, would you come back to see Carter, Doug, Carol, Benton, or Corday again?

I would love to see good 'ol George reprise his role as the hottest pediatrician ever- Dr. Doug Ross. Remember how good he looked with the Caesar haircut? OMG, that was his hottest look ever!
1I would love to see George Clooney and Julianna Margulies come back for a visit with their twins!
2er needs to be done and over.
3All of them. I always love Carter and George would be amazing.
4Why not resurrect Mark Green from the dead, while they're at it?
5It would great to see George as the father of 8-year old twins, especially if they inherited Dr. Ross' personality!
6Dr Ross and Carter. They are both so yummy to look at.
7yep i totally watch again if they brought back a couple of them!
8They could always bring back Alex Kingston if they want to remember Dr Green. I always thought they missed a good opportunity to bring Doug and Carol back during Dr Green's wedding!
9Heck yeah once they all left it was over for me, can't wait.
10I would love to see George Clooney make a guest appearence.
11Well they cannot bring Dr Mark Green back unless someone on the show has the power to raise the dead. But I loved that character and his death was painfully for me as it was similar to my experience with my mom. The Corday character run her course shortly thereafter - no real love interest and no nemesis after Romano was hurt.
I'd love to know what Doug and Carol are up to. How the twin girls are, if Doug really married Carol and stayed faithful. And I'd be interested in seeing if Dr Benton is still butting heads with people and how he and his deaf son are doing together.
I'd also like to William H Macy's character Dr. David Morgenstern - the ex-chief of surgery comeback. I think he had a heart attack and lost his confidence and I think Kerry had his license revoked.
damn I really use to love er. Stopped watching when Africa episode arc started.
12Well, now that I'm thinking about people I want to see come back, what about Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet on Lost) coming back as Dr Legaspi?
13I love George and I love Noah but my favourite character is Carter, so I'm going to watch it mainly for him. But I'd like to see Benton again too.
14And it's Wyle, not Wylie
I would love for them to come back for another season. Goran Visnjic has not left the show at least not yet so i would hope that he would pop in. It would be great to see Doug and Carol pop in with the twins
15well julianna hasher own show now so i'm not sure if she'd come back and i would imagine that clooney might come back for like one episode - but he's kind of 'too big' for the show now don't you think?
16i haven't watched er since the beginning seasons but i'd watch if the brought some of the old characters back!
17Bring in Glenn Howerton. I had hoped they'd make his character a regular.
18If George were back, I'd start watching again.
19wow, thanks, raffyx! I've apparently been making that mistake for years! oops ...
20i haven't followed ER in awhile, i think i stopped watching it when Dr. Carter left. however, if they had some good where are they now's, i'd definitely watch it next season.
21George Clooney and Julianne Margoulis (sp.) I loved her last episode (when was that?) when at the very end you see her character with Doug Ross. I haven't watch a lot of ER in recent years. I was addicted to it in the first 5 or 6 years. Doug Ross, Mark Green - ok, they killed him off so he can't come back, Alex Corday, Dr Romano - what a jerk. So many great characters and actors. I would love to see all of them come back...
22I hope Clooney doesn't feel "too big" to come back. It would be cool if he could direct the episode too. I'd love to see Dr.s Ross, Benton and Carter because I haven't watched ER in years!
23Dr. Ross!
Although I hope he leaves Carol at home....

Her cell phone rang. It was Langdon saying her life was in danger. She struggled free from Mal'akh and headed to her car. An explosion. Huge. Her top secret laboratory and all her research destroyed. At least it gave her time to think about Peter's son, Zachary, who had died in a Turkish jail 10 years previously.ant architecture science fair
A mason spirited Langdon away through a secret tunnel to the reading room of Congress where Katherine just happened to be waiting. "I am the Architect," said the mason. "We must find the Circle of Life for it Moves Us All". Langdon removed a piece of pyramid he had forgotten about from his pocket. AD 1514. "It's Albrecht Du"rer, the Renaissance painter, born blah blah. His work makes Leonardo look like a half-wit." "And this book makes The Da Vinci Code look like a masterpiece," Katherine said. Escaping 347 CIA operatives, they met a masonic bishop. "Save the free world," he begged.
