All good things must come to an end, and last night that good thing was Project Runway season four. I'm certainly going to miss its bevy of crying fits, crazy hats, cackles, and fierceness. And while it may not have been the most dynamic season in terms of drama (really, I blame Jillian), the designers certainly had talent — as we saw during last night's runway presentation showcasing the final three designers.

After last week's showdown between Chris and Rami, Rami proved victorious and joined Jillian and Christian in the top three. I was sad to see Chris go, but I think Rami truly was on a similar playing field as Jillian and Christian. And, as Torrance Shipman says in Bring It On, "I define being the best as competing against the best there is out there and beating them." I couldn't agree more — and I absolutely think these three were the best of the season, so the winner truly had to bring it!
To hear more about last night's episode, including the winner of Project Runway, and to see a gallery of all of the final looks, read more.
Before we get to the runway rundown, let's discuss the drama, or lack thereof, that happened beforehand. Really, there was the least amount of drama in Project Runway finale history. Season one had the Kara Saun shoe debacle, not to mention the Wendy Pepper feud. Season two had Santino Rice ('nuff said) and the surprise 13th look. And in season three, Jeffrey was accused of not sewing his own garments. Nothing especially exciting happened in last night's episode prior to the runway shows. In fact, it was pretty run-of-the-mill. Tim Gunn critiqued each of the designers and chatted about his or her collection. He was a little worried about the cohesiveness of Jillian's collection, and the over-designed aspect of Christian's collection, but he didn't have any criticism for Rami (that we saw, anyway).
If there was one iota of drama, it was with Jillian and her casting. She complained that she had never done it before and therefore ended up with models who lacked a consistent look. She tried to switch some girls out the day before the runway show but wasn't allowed to. Big deal. I preferred Christian's model interaction. I loved when his model was complaining about the shoes and he said "I worked it around my apartment in those shoes for like a week, and if I can do it these ladies can do it." Fierce.
As for the runway, the big news was that Victoria Beckham was the guest judge. The bigger news was that she actually smiled. Shock. Onto the collections . . .
- Jillian: Jillian's collection was inspired by the last challenge at the Met, specifically around a theme of 15th century armor. That being said, her pieces were definitely current and, typical for Jillian, very wearable. The judges thought that her collection looked feminine and modern, but a little disjointed. I loved her collection, but I agreed that there was a lack of cohesion. Close but no cigar, Jillian's out. Although I'd buy that coat her ProjRun model was wearing in a second.
- Rami: Rami's collection was inspired by Joan of Arc. Heidi loved his collection, especially all of the weaving that he did. Michael Kors agreed with the woven comment, but didn't love some of his "Brady Bunch" colors. I thought his collection was strong, as all of the designers' collections were, but just as Michael said, something about the bright pink, teal, and brown seemed a bit off. Also, I was missing his drapery — and who ever thought I'd say that? Nina said Rami's strength is in evening wear, and there wasn't enough of that. Not quite good enough, Rami.
- Christian: Christian said of his collection that he wanted to create something hard and soft (did that remind anyone else of the end of this Ali G fashion show sketch?). And that's about all he could say. He was so nervous, which was so not like him! At one point, I actually thought he was going to vomit on Rami's shoes. His collection definitely had an editorial edge plus that wow factor on the runway. Victoria loved it, saying it was very much in her taste and style. She even called Christian "maja." I think major = fierce squared. Michael, Nina, and Heidi all agreed that Christian has a flair for chic drama. His only major criticism was that his palette had too much black. In the end, Christian went on to become the youngest winner of Project Runway. In all honesty, Christian's show gave me the chills, and I was rooting for him, so bravo, Ferocia. Bravo.
Are you guys with me? Did you think Christian should have won? If not, who was the rightful winner of Project Runway?

This made me so happy. I actually started crying a bit!
1I thought Christian's looks 2-9 looked the exact same. I don't know, I just don't think he won for his collection but for his personality and the fact that he'd be the youngest.
Did anyone think Malandrino when they saw Rami's collection - I loved it and was really impressed by his work.
I can see how Jillian's was disjointed, BUT, I think the individual looks were great and I could see myself buying most of it.
2LOVED it!!! and i agreed about rami's color choices...that drab alive and taupe together....SOOO blah.
3It looked like Tim was getting a little verklempt when they had the last gather-round, I thought that was so sweet! =)
Bravo designers! While I agree that this finale lacked the previous seasons drama, it made up for it w/ 3 ultra-chic collections. I didn't think there was an obvious winner this year, all 3 were individually gorgeous. But congrats Christian!!
4Oh and I can totally see Posh wearing Christian's second to last dress...it's very majah, very Posh
5Christian=LOVE. Tim=Adorable. Rami=Yawn. Jillian=Debbie Downer. Does she ever smile? Posh=Ridiculously fabulous. Great episode. I am so happy Christian won! He is hysterical and a totally larger than life. I think that alone will help keep him in the limelight and able to garner more attention in the fashion world in the coming years. If Rami won, I feel like he would fall by the wayside with his boring color choices and boring personality. All three are talented but the fierce freak deserved the win! Yay Christian!
6I don't think Christian would have won if it weren't for Posh. She LOVED his collection and she is one of maybe 5 people on the planet that could have worn anything in it. Rami and Jillian were the best and I would have been happy for either one of them to win. I think Christian deserved to be in the final 3 and he is definitely talented, but this collection was too feathery and ruffle-y for my liking. I also think he needs to grow up a little bit.
7I actually loved Jillian's collection — and I kinda like her personally too. She's sort of droll, and I like that. However, I did think it was a bit disjointed, and while I loved Rami's more than I thought I would, I agree that Christian deserved to win. I just wish he weren't so annoying. All of the collections were very strong though.
8Christian totally deserved to win! He was strong throughout the entire season, and the poor thing is sleeping on a mat in the floor of his work studio.
His style is edgy and FIERCE and demands attention. That's what you expect at Bryant Park. Not just hi-you-can-buy-me-at-Macy's fashion. But all in all, all 3 of them were F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S.!!!
I agree with Buzz. No drama this season.
9I love Christian. I got a little misty watching him start to cry on the runway before the winner was announced. He is the most adorable thing. Loved his show.
10I was impressed by all the collections but I agreed that Christian deserved the win. He is definitely HIGH FASHION! Let's face it so many of the top fashion shows are like his...clothes that the average woman can not wear!
Jillian, I was actually impressed with her, but no lie, by the time Rami clothes came out I couldn't remember one thing that she did. She's very forgettable and unfortunately all over the place with her thoughts and designs.
Rami, His collection was OK. I agreed that his color choices were poor but the man kills it when it comes to evening wear. I'm sure we'll see more of him in the future his gowns are amazing.
Christian, high fashion, unique, and cohesive. His collection looked the most like a true collection. Fierce!
11I'd rather hear "major" all the time than "fierce". Victoria Beckham is so cute, and I'd love to see her wearing anything from Christian's line.
12I wish Rami would have won but Christian was better. I was really wierd seeing him so nervous and crying.
13My friends and I had a little PR party for the finale, and I was the only one rooting for christian. He's amazing. I'm looking forward to Fab's re-cap of the outfits...still waiting Fab!
14Did anyone notice Jaslene from ANTM walked for Jillian? She's in the cute little black and silver dress...just about the only thing I thought was cute in Jillian's collection...
Rami...he can definitely make evening gowns that's for sure...I wasn't crazy about his colors though.
Completely thrilled Christian won!! I had him picked as the winner for a long time...so cute that he was nervous and cried...awww so adorable. Amazing designs.
15was it just me or did anyone else find it weird that the judges didn't have anything to say ( at least onscreen) about rami's models having a hard time walking in the gowns? i was crossing my fingers at least twice that someone wasn't going to eat it on the runway
16The finale was great, no matter the lack of drama
I was very impressed by everyone's work, but Christian is FIERCE, for real, and he deserved his chance, he's so young, and has so much time to become a great designer
17I loved christian's second to last dress. As soon as I saw that one coming down the runway, I knew he had won.
18bluesarahlou - my 10 yr old daughter said "hey, isn't that Jaslene?!" and I was like nah, couldn't be. Man, I felt stupid this morning when I read that it was! I owe her an apology, my smart kid!
Results weren't surprising AT ALL. They were all so good it was almost boring! LOL! And I was kind of over Christian by this episode, but when his little chin started quivering...so sweet!
19i figured all season that Christian or Jillian would win. I was glad to see him win. The weaving that Rami did was kinda cool but i was mostly bored by his designs. I would have much rather seen Chris in the final. I don't think he would have won but I think his show would have at least been interesting. I really like Jillians clothes and could see myself wearing alot of them but Christian totally deserved to win.
20Go Christian!!! Great line and he was actually somewhat modest until he won and then the boy brat was back again. But that brat can back it up and I was cheering when he won. Wish I could score one of those looks for myself but it looks like Posh is going to get them all for free
21oy. if i had to hear about Rami wanting to be in fashion since he was five years old i was going to rip my ears off. doesn't he have anything else to say?
22Christian was my fav since somewhere around episode 2 so i'm glad he won. I think he has the most overall talent.
He was constantly the best throughout the whole season. Go Christian.
23Christian is just fierce! He definitely deserved his win!
I loved Jillian's collection as well because I can actually see myself wearing her designs.
24christian, my favorite!!
25I guess I was the only one who was a bit let down by the whole finale it bored me last night. I wanted Christian to sock someone in the face or someone steal his flat irons or something.
26I thought Rami's collection was awesome and I thought it would come down to him and Christian. Christian's feather dress was awesome and I LOVED the cream (was it antique lace?) dress of Rami's. Beautiful. I was touched by Christian's nervousness on the runway...he has annoyed the crap out of me this season, but that was sweet.
27I love Jillian's style. I think Christian's wasn't very practical but his overall show was the best. Jillian's collection was the one that I feel was the most "ready".......And I think that if Victoria Beckham didn't think his collection was so "major" then he probably wouldn't have won.
28I hated most of what Rami did the whole season (didn't hate, just got SO bored of the drapery), but I actually kind of liked Rami's collection the best. I am happy Christian won, but he had very similar outfits all in a row.
29Couldn't be happier about the result of this season! Christian showed very early on that he was designing on a different level that all the other designers. Couture fashion isn't always wearable, but it IS what sets the tone for all of the other ready-to-wear collections.
Congratulations to Ferocia!!!!!!
30Also, did anyone notice Jaslene from ANTM in Rami's show??
31oops...I meant Jillian's show
32I was uber excited for Christian!!! I've been rooting for him all season. I really missed Chris during this final episode...I would have loved to see his entire collection on the runway!!!
I liked Rami's collection, but the weaving really isn't that new. As soon as I saw it, I thought Bottega Veneta!!!
33bluecanary-I wasn't positive it was her last night....but I read about it today. She looked super cute though!
34i agree that jillians looks were very commercial and i would want to buy EVERYTHING! ... rami's always looks very very matronly and i hated pretty much... everything.
i definately agree that christian should have won because to be that young and have such a strong point of view and craft is amazing!!!
35p.s christians last look was the most stunning thing that has been on the show thus far...
36I still think my favorite piece was Jay McCarroll's last dress during his runway show....funny, it had feathers too and a color scale effect!!!
37What was Christian's last look? Was it that feather dress? Honestly, I just could not find anything I liked about it. I thought it was hideous. Oh well... I guess I just don't "get" it. I really would have loved to see the rest of Chris' collection though.
38I loved Jillian's - and would love to wear some of it. A lot of the items in Christian's collection looked v. similar, both to each other and to former things he's done this season.
39I totally agree with javsmav. I don't think Christian would have won if it weren't for VB. As I was watching it I thought all the black stuff looked the same. I know he is high fashion but I would have liked to have seen Jillian win. I actually loved her knit wear. Her line had things that more real women can wear everyday and not just Posh. But congrats to Christian anyway.
40I did not get to see a lot of this season but from the episodes I saw, I always liked Christian's designs the most and I am very happy he won!
41I think Christian was the strongest designer throughout the season, but his end collection all looked exactly the same and was kinda boring. How many times can we see skinny pants plus a big jacket? Plus none of it would be wearable by anyone. I expected more from him. Personally, I liked Rami's collection the best- I would buy several of those pieces instantly, which I can't say about either of the other designers. Christian's stuff is like a work of art so I knew they would choose him, but for fashion that real people actually buy and wear, Rami and Jillian both do it better. Will be interesting to see what Christian puts on Bluefly.com.
42I read that Chris used two ANTM girls in his show but because he was cut before the finale his show wasn't aired. Does anyone know which girls he used?
43I thought Jillian was going to win because they're suppose sell the clothes on bluefly. but im glad christian won though.
44Jessy777 you can go to nymag.com and click on fashion shows. Then go to "NY Fall 2008 Women RTW shows". It has a rundown of the three finalists, plus Chris and Sweet Pea's shows.
Looks like Dani (yay I didn't notice that was her!) and Bianca.
Interesting to see the "losers" designs...I loved what Chris put together (I've always been a Chris fan) but it looks like Sweet Pea just ran out of steam...didn't really work for me.
45Christian did well overall so he deserved his win. But I was so rooting for Rami. I love his attention to details and his work was sooo intrictae! I can definitely see myself in Rami's and Jillian's in terms of wearability.
46I did NOT want Christian to win...I would have been MUCH happier with either Jillian or Rami. But they never pick the people I want to win so I've learned to accept it.
47I completely disagree with Christian winning. I've been on team Christian the entire time but I have to say I did not like his final collection at all. I thought it was entirely too costuming. And the feather thing...can I saw ew!
I think Rami should have gotten it. Aside from the colors, I think he had the best all around collection. I liked Jillian's collection a lot too. I would have also been happy if she won.
I don't deny that Christian is super talented. Like I said I was totally hoping he'd win up until I saw the collections. I don't think his final collection was good at all. Based on just those collections and nothing else, I don't think Christian should have gotten it.
48i wish christian were my gay boyfriend. i wanted him to win from day 1. i too got goosebumps when his line walked down the runway. i felt the same way last year for jeffrey. i love how the designers keep getting more and more talented!
49Loved some of the separates from Jillian, loved the second to last Rami dress (the gold - lace? - one with cap sleeves that the model could actually walk in), but overall Christian had it in the bag. A well-deserved win, and I can't wait to see where he goes from here both creatively and professionally.
