After less than a year of following the exploits of rich teens on the Upper East Side with Gossip Girl, the CW is setting its sights on another book-to-TV adaptation, this time centering on rich teenagers in Palm Beach, Florida.
The new show will be based on Zoey Dean's young adult novel (published by Gossip Girl's same house, Alloy Entertainment) How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls, which sounds as though it starts off like The Devil Wears Prada and ends up like The Nanny Diaries — but set in Palm Beach.
According to Variety, Pushing Daisies writer and producer Rina Mimoun will write the pilot episode. The story follows "a young woman who's fired from her job as the assistant at a glossy tabloid mag. She's then hired to serve as a live-in tutor and life coach for the teen granddaughters of a cosmetics magnate. Show's lead must win over the girls while also navigating Palm Beach's high society and dealing with her own personal issues."
While this story has a not-so-wealthy protagonist, there still seems to be something endlessly fascinating about rich kids. What do you think about this project? Is it intriguing or more of the same?

2palm beach or palm springs?
3I just want gossip girl back. Now.
4megmarmor: Palm Beach, Florida. Sorry for the confusion, I just fixed in the post.
5thanks!
6why? what a sad state of affairs...
7Not feeling too enthused about this news, but ... whoohoo, Palm Beach!
8Laney - I liked that show, too!
9oh great - just another one of these types of shows. i'm glad that i lived in PB and that i'm no longer there becuase i'm sure that it would just hit home way too hard. knowing that i've got my NYC home with GG and Florida with this new show...it's just TOO much!
10I'll watch it but it won't have my Blair/Chuck so I doubt it will be as great.
11I actually read this book and thought it was pretty cute. I'll watch the show!
12This show might not be too bad. Zoey Dean is the pen name of two established writers who have a background in writing for television (they work on major soap operas) and who, together, penned the popular A-List series. If "Zoey Dean" is part of the writing staff, I'll have faith.
13Yeah, I'll probably watch it ... if it doesn't conflict with any of my alread established shows
