It looks like Cleveland Brown, neighbor to Family Guy's Peter Griffin, will be the star of his own show. Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane, along with Cleveland's voice actor Mike Henry and former Simpsons writer Rich Appel are collaborating on the project, tentatively titled Cleveland.
As Hollywood Reporter puts it, "Cleveland, who plays off black stereotypes, is the most levelheaded among Griffin's trio of friends." That's for sure. In fact, I'm probably more likely to tune into this spinoff than I am to watch Family Guy these days, as I sometimes get tired of Peter Griffin's outrageousness.
Cleveland seems like an ideal choice for a show's main character; as the gentle, slow-speaking, everyman, there's probably a lot of funny stuff to be found in his life.
What do you think about Cleveland? Will you check it out, or are you about done with Seth McFarlane and his animated series?

As an avid family guy "watcher", I would say Cleveland is my LEAST favorite character.I would probably check this one out if it had other interesting characters.
1I know, MOMM! Cleveland is my least favorite also. He's not very dynamic. The slow speech thing annoys me, and I love Peter's outrageousness.
2I gotta agree with the comments above me as well! I don't mind Cleveland on the show, he calms it down a little and he's had some good moments, but overall, I don't think I could watch a show with him as the main character.
3He's by far the least interesting character. I hate how slowly he speaks! I think the best spin off character would've been Quagmire.
4While I think Cleveland has some good one-liners, I don't think he's a strong enough character to carry his own show. I might check out the first episode just to see how it is.
5I agree. But I don't think creating a spinoff is a good idea. The show is great how it is.
6this is awesome!
7eh family guy is in re-runs all day and all night long it seems, i watch it when i'm bored and i don't know if i need more of those characters in my life.
8I love Family Guy, but I don't think Cleveland can carry his own show. He's just not that interesting.
9I agree with the other posters - Cleveland is not as interesting as the other characters.
10I think everyone on here is pretty dead on. I have been a huge fan of Family Guy, but lately it has become more of a show I flip to when there is nothing new on. I'm not sure I could say the same for an all Cleveland show. Maybe if it were Brian or Quagmire.
11not sure how i feel about this one.
now if quagamire had his own show, THAT would be interesting
12seriously? why? am i the only one who dislikes family guy? I liked it the first time around, but sort of wish it never came back.
13I don't think Cleaveland can carry a show and I seriously hope that they don't drop that character from Family Guy because he's only funny when he's playing off the other characters.
No more spin offs!
14I agree with starrose and snarkypants, if quagmire or brian had a show, that would be cool to watch. But they should just keep with family guy and just come up with new stuff. The reruns are getting kind of boring.
15i'm kinda over family guy. it's funny and all, but i can't ignore the misogynism in like EVERY episode. seth macfarlane needs to go away.
16Okay, what?
Alright. I understand the people who are all, 'Why Cleveland?'--but really, it can't be Brian or Quagmire. Brian's a member of the Griffins, being one half of the Brian-Stewie double act, and Quagmire is *the* most one note character on the show, save for maybe the paedophilic old man next door. Joe could've pulled off a spin-off, perhaps something in the vein of action movie satire. But I don't think Cleveland is a bad choice. His humour's dry, but so was Bob Newhart's, right?
If they were going to make a spinoff, I'd've been happier if it'd been something Hot Fuzz-like with Joe, but Cleveland's fine with me.
17Cleveland is my least favorite character, I think it'll be a rip off of Family Guy (obviously) and of course it'll have cheap laughs, but it probably won't do well.
18yes!!!
19boring.
20I enjoy Family Guy... It's cool that a known character is getting a spin off. I can't really get into American Dad it's like watching Joe lol
21I believe that all of the above are correct, Cleveland is not strong enough to carry his own show although a spin off isn't a bad idea. I also agree that quagmire would make a good spin off character cause you need the main character to be outrageous like peter. xD
22you guys dont get it though. cleveland is slow and boring i know that. but thats whats funny about him! i also agree with jesus christ they should have one about quagmire.
23Cleveland will be a good show. So many jokes to be had. Think of all the stereotypes to be played on. Quagmire is funny but I dont think a spinoff show for just him would able to be played before midnight with all the sexual jokes that would have to be made.
24I agree with everyone else Clevland is boring. I mean he is funny at times but a show with him as the min character would SUCK!!!! They should have done a spin-off with Stewie.
25I think that Tom Tucker would be the best choice. Make it half news and half family life with his wife and upside down face kid. They could play off real news situations in order to create more material.
26I love family guy but this spin off is going to be terrible.... if you want to make a good spin off a good character to use is Quagmire but a great charater to use is ADAM WEST. he is retarted...which is why he would be do good
27cleveland is the best ever!
28That is the beauty of Cleveland, It's his boring side that makes it so interesting. The rest of you must only have one sense of humor.
29I wouldn't watch a show about clevland.
30If it where quagmire I would be more likely to watch it.
I don't watch family guy like that, but I think Clevand MIGHT be okay. It's most likely going to be extremely stereotypical just to get laughs. I do kinda wish they gave Quagmire his own show...That probably would have gotten them a TON of ratings since Quagmire has a pretty interesting* life. But like other people said on here, Quagmire is a one man liner and we pretty much have seen everything he's got to offer (sex humor). What else would his show be other than sex and...sex? We'll have to see how this show does...
31Eh....it could be ok. He has had some classic lines:
"I'm no meteorologist, but I'm pretty sure it's raining bi*ches!"
32cleveland would be the best choice .. because he's black. remember this about him and his family not just cleveland himself. it'll be like watching an animated version of black family comedies. and a quagmire show would not be safe for TV .. perhaps on the internet.
33Cleveland is the only person on the show who could have had a spin-off(besides Joe), and I'm looking forward to it. As long as Seth keeps it as an actual show instead of the animated version of a link dump(as Family Guy is), it'll probably do just fine, especially with a(relatively) old-school Simpsons writer. I never liked Cleveland overly much the first time around, but since the show's come back(and suffered painfully), it seems that Cleveland is the saving grace. Re-watching old seasons shows the same.
34What are you all talking about? Cleavland is an awesome character and my favorite supporting character. I am just upset that he won't be featured in both shows because he is hilarious. I think that the Cleavland show might not do good in the beginning but like Family Guy, it will make it after people become familiarized with the characters. Not everyone got Family Guy at first because their was a talking dog and baby and I think the Cleavland show will have similar ratings the first season.
