On the one hand, The Ruins stars the adorable Jenna Malone, and is based on a well-liked novel by Scott Smith that has been praised by Stephen King. On the other hand, it kind of smacks of cheesy horror flicks like Turistas. What do you think? Will you be watching The Ruins when it opens April 4?

My boyfriend has this book and loved it, so I read it and HATED it. The story itself was decent, I suppose, but the characters were so whiny and selfish and unlikeable, except for one, who was okay.
I actually think the movie has got potential to be less annoying than the book because there will be more action and less development of the immature, hateful characters.
1I really do not like Jenna Malone. She's really an awful actress. Complete over-actor.
2this looks like any other slasher gross movie
3This looks like every other crappy "horror" flick. PASS
4I'm a horror fanatic, and this doesn't have enough gore and bloodshed for me, but I might watch it online.
5I love Jena Malone and it looks like it could be scary - or just gross. I'm bummed, I haven't seen a horror movie I liked since The Descent, and that was a pretty long time ago.
6I read the book and believe me it's NOT a Touristas remake, totally different.
7I loved the book, but i am afraid of anything that is overly CGI, especially when you are supposed to be scared of it (my mind says "its not frikkin real")
8I am just too damned old for scary, spooky, bloody, & anything gross looking or sounding movies! I have a weak stomach & getting startled throughout a movie just irritates me!
It looks like more of the same old.....
Either way, I'll just have to pass on this one.
9i read the book too, so of course i'm going to see the movie. the trailer looks like the film might improve on major shortcomings in the book. yay.
10I like the book, but maybe the movie will be good but I'll wait until it shows up on DVD...
