Today there has been some fall-out about some of the editing choices made with the many montages featured in this year's Oscars ceremony. One of the bigger ones is the omission of Whoopi Goldberg from the Oscar hosts reel. As the ladies of The View discuss in the clip below, Whoopi's hosting broke several records, so it does seem strange that they would leave her out.
On the other hand, I don't envy producers of these award shows, given the egos in this business and how impossible it would be to assuage all of them.
Take a look at the clip below and let me know what you think about all this.

Who knows?! It could go either way since the event was last minute or maybe she did something to anger one of the officals. Don't really care however it does seem odd to exclude her.
1I was going to say she shouldnt make a big deal of it at first, but then I watched the clip and it changed my mind, I think she was snubbed. Hosting it 4 times and breaking records while doing it is no small feat, they could have at least included a 2 sec clip of her in that crazy Elizabeth getup
2I think leaving Brad Renfro out of the death montage was a much bigger snub than Whoopi's.
3Hollywood is fickle. You can never fully understand the why's of that business/town...so I don't even try. Should she have been included? For sure. Will anyone come out and explain why she was left out? Don't hold your breath.
4When I think Oscar hosts, she comes to mind. I would feel a little snubbed.
5Yes, she was snubbed! That was a disgrace, I'm not gonna sugar coat it. There is no way they forgot she hosted it! The Oscars should be ashamed. I don't even like Whoopie much but it's just not right. Glad I didn't watch and glad it was the lowest rated broadcast of the show in like 20 years.
6They did show her in the montage of Supporting Actress winners though.
7i think her being the first oscar winner, person of colour, woman, woman of colour to host and to returen 3 more times,??????????? that was a very big snub!!
8I don't care that it was a "last minute show" people who have been planning it have known what they want to do. You plan for events like that a year in advance. And they are professionals and a gazillion people review everything that goes up on the stage or on camera. It had to be intentional.
9She was snubbed but the whole conversation was weird on the view. How she can associate with that show is beyond me. And Barbara Walters special was really obnoxious especially her interview of Ellen Page - how old can you be. She completely talked over her. Babs has lost it.
10maybe they snubbed her because she's so painfully unfunny. they just want to dissociate from her horrid hosting -- what? no, never happened!
11It seemed she wanted to cry on the view..
I felt bad for her.
12they totally snubbed her! she was a great host...way better than john stewart who was sweet but not-so-funny...just made me think of the stuck-up conservatives who vote for movies in the academy
13The show was so poorly scripted and hastily done, it's hard to know for sure. At least they showed her as one of the past winners.
14She was absolutely snubbed. I was also upset about leaving Brad Renfro out of the "people we lost" montage.
15you know, i didn't even think about that one. it seems like there were a lot of snubs during the montages - and i'm not sure why...
16I'm with Brittfish. Leaving her out was snub, but the Brad Renfro thing was way worse. And their excuse was BS. They fit 98 people in but couldn't fit him? I think that was a CYA statement. They need to just come out and admit they made these mistakes.
17I'm actually glad I watched this. My husband told me that Whoopi got all upset on the View about being snubbed, when clearly it was all of her co-hosts that made a big deal of it and she seemed to handle it quite well.
18i think it was super sweet of her co workers to make sure that everyone knew she rec'd an oscar and was a host...so even if she was unfairly snubbed she has some clout w/ them and their viewers... girl power! so sweet!
19I dont think she was snubbed, they didnt put Steve Martin on there either! and the ladies of "the vag" need to stop with the "soft lense" and go get L*aid.
20Whoopi did get snubbed, but she took it well. Props to her..I don't like her much on The View, but I loved me some Whoopi movies as a kid... I can't believe they left out Brad Renfro, that really grinds my gears.
21She was a snubbed ... but only a little bit. I honestly don't see if a one second shot of her a presenter would have added so much time to the show.
I guess the editor thought something like, I have Whoopi in 3 shots accepting her Oscar, so given the large number of ppl, that's enough.
And if she would've made a big thing out of it, it would become its own thing, and would seem petty of her.
happily, the editor/producer has apologized to her, so alls well that ends well.
