Oh. My. Gosh. Diablo Cody just won for Best Original Screenplay! This category was awesomely female-dominated, and Ms. Cody beat out the writers of Lars and the Real Girl, Michael Clayton, Ratatouille, and The Savages. What do you think of this win?

I was not shocked by it. I thought all of them were great screenplays
1Not to be ridiculously mean or anything, but I really think that anybody could have written that screenplay. If Cody didn't write Juno, someone else later on would. Lars and the Real Girl was much more inventive, in my opinion.
2I agree with this. I'm glad she won.
3Very pleased with this award.
4I disagree with this one, I did not like the screenplay at all..Lars or Michael Clayton were my personal choice, though everyone knew she was gonna win.
5Agree. She deserved it.
6I thought diablo cody wrote a very good screenplay, and I'm glad to see a MN girl getting love, but I also wish that the press would find it as interesting to write stories about female writers who don't have the salacious background that she has. Her background is interesting and cool, and I don't want to take away from that, but it irritates me that a writer becomes 100x more interesting because she's a cute girl who took her clothes off.
That said, glad the movie got an award, and best screenplay seems as good a one as any!
7I'm kinda 50/50 about this win....on the one hand I loved this movie and I'm so Juno won, but on the other hand I kinda agree with Bethany21. Aside from some creative dialogue this movie could've been written by anyone. I think as creative and innovative as Lars and the Real Girl was..it should've received more attention than it did.
I also agree with Hayworthgilda....the press focused on the fact that Diablo used to be a stripper almost more than her writing skills.
8Oh and she looked SUPER uncomfortable during her acceptance speech...eek!
9I'm really glad she won. I liked Juno and Ellen Page's performance, but for me the film wouldn't be the same if it weren't for the screenplay.
10Absolutely agree.
11i think that it was GREAT that she won. it's great to see that someone who's not your classical writer can get acclaim for her storyline. yay for diablo!
12GO JUNO
13I loved the movie, and the screenplay was great, but I think Michael Clayton was more deserving.
14I couldn't be happier!
She's awesome!
