What Did You Think of the New Knight Rider?

The revamped, modernized version of Knight Rider premiered on NBC last night as a two-hour movie — though the expectation is that if the movie gets good ratings, it could set up a new Knight Rider series. Personally, I was more excited about the project back when Will Arnett was still the voice of KITT, but hey, what can you do?

Most of you weren't too excited back when we first heard about this project, but I'm wondering if curiosity got the best of you last night. Did any of you check out the new Knight Rider? Was it a welcome '80s flashback, or did it ruin your childhood memories?

I was bored last night so I said what the hell lets see how it is. I couldn't even get through the first 20 minutes!!! HORRIBLE and a disgrace to the real Knight Rider franchise. Bad acting galore!!! And could we get any more product placing with Ford? If it wasn't all Ford's doing the chasing on screen then you had to sit through Ford commercials. Also they sure weren't saying much about the new corny ass K.I.T.T. when a Ford Edge could keep up with it. OY, much worse than I thought it would be...I couldn't watch the whole thing.

Listen you just cant dig up old 70s and 80s shows that were hits (bionic woman, knight rider) and expect people to watch them (bionic woman...cancelled)

Those shows were popular for a reason, technology that seemed unattainable in the 70's and 80's now with CGI they seem cheesy and redundant.

We children of that age arent gullible enough to fall for the same thing twice.

I really wanted to see it, but I was out last night.
Do you think they'll reshow it?
I thought KITT was a Mustang?

i admit i set it on my tivo and watched it just now.

the hoff was in hoff-y glory. i like bruce davison so i wanted to give it a chance. having given it that chance, i don't think i would watch a show.

knowing that will arnett pulled out b/c of his contractual obligation to gmc and replaced with kilmer at the last moment led me to overanalyze kitt. i loved the initial kitt, who had a bit of sass to him. the guy from st. elsewhere... what was his name? kilmer was just flat.

"I thought KITT was a Mustang?"

Not sure what your question is but a Mustang is a Ford. The original KITT was a Trans AM.

UGH, this makes me mad to even talk about because the people who produce these shows have no creativity. Why would you take a car that is a RETRO Mustang and use it as KITT???!!! One of the appeals of KITT was that the Trans Am was futuristic looking. This Ford Mustang is a common regular car that your local high school kid drives! UGH.

I'm with hotstuff. I didn't see a vote for "Refuses to watch as KITT was a Trans AM not a Mustang." There really should have been one. I figured if they sold out on that most vital of choices, the rest of the show would probably be pretty unwatchable no matter how generically cute the driver is. Smiling

My boyfriend made me watch it. We both agreed it was pretty much the worst thing ever. TERRIBLE acting. We laughed the whole time.

I was too busy watching Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth (I love Pride and Prejudice), but even if I hadn't been watching Masterpiece Theater I would have avoided it on principle alone- I'm with Hotstuff and jennaboa!!!!

I didn't like it. I watched it because it was Knight Rider, but it wasn't anywhere near the show I used to love. The actors chosen were horrible, the car was dull and lifeless (I know it's a car, but KITT had personality), and although the technology was interesting, it was overused for a first showing.

If they ever decide to make this into a series, they have a lot to do to improve it.

I tivo'd it, but I haven't watched it. Judging by these comments, it probably wouldn't hurt to just delete it. Maybe I'll peek at it for a glimpse of the Hoff.

Didn't hold my interest. I put it on mute and glanced up every now and then. I'm not that much into cars but as a child of the 70s, I did like the original version.

I listened to it through a fevered haze. The voice of Kitt was dull.

I was glad that this was better than the TKR attempt, but it still did not live up to the original. Guess third time will not be a charm for this show.

I disliked the show. There was nothing on and decided to watch the show; what a waste of an hour. I like Justin better on All My Children; his acting wasn't good enough for a regular program.

The worst acting I've seen in a long, long time. I can't believe I made it all the way to the end. However, when the Hoff showed up I have to admit I did a little cheer.

I put it on my dvr and got through about a half hour. The dialogue was so incredibly weak I just couldnt finish. I understand the flimsy plot but the characters had absolutely nothing of any interest at all to say even though they were in a high pressure situation.

I was insanely excited when Will Arnett was still involved. Will Arnett makes everything amazing. But when he was replaced, I lost all interest. Didn't watch.
