Oprah is hoping to convert her daytime success into some primetime interest with a new series called Oprah's Big Give, in which 10 regular people will compete to "outgive" each other in a variety of contests. In the first episode, for example, contestants are tasked with changing someone's life in a big and creative way. The person who does the least to help his or her stranger will be sent packing, while the rest continue on to other charitable challenges.
While a show about helping other people sounds like a good thing — and certainly not the worst use of reality TV ever — it strikes me as odd to send someone home for not giving well enough. Aren't judging and giving sort of opposites? Check out the preview below and let me know what you think. Is this something you're excited to watch?

Maybe. I love Oprah but this seems like a weird concept, plus I've had my fill of Extreme Home Makeover. I like a good cry at a TV show every now and again, but having my heartstrings yanked on weekly is too much for me.
1I'll pass. Not really my type of show. I am all for giving back but I don't need to see a television show about it.
2Pass. Oprah drives me crazy- she seems fake beyond belief to me. But even taking her out of the equation, I don't think that this is the way to get people to give back.

6Pass. I don't watch reality shows (ever), never watch Oprah and work at a non-profit. When I get home, I'd like a break.
7undecided, I see were she is going with this but i am a little skeptical
8Just No. Can't stand reality TV... and why spend the money to produce a TV show about giving back when that money could actually just be given to a good cause instead. And no, I don't get the idea of sending someone "packing" because what they gave wasn't "good enough". That almost sounds like an oxymoron. No thanks.
9I probably won't watch it, but I think it is a good idea. I just hope that the winner gives their million dollars away.
10I'm not a big fan of Oprah, but I don't think the concept is too weird. I'd rather watch that, than watch a bunch of cheesy dancers/singers compete for a prize. I also think this show could be inspiring to watch, if not anything, Oprah does inspire people to make a difference.
