Letters From Iwo Jima is one of those movies I've been hearing about for months, so I'm excited that it's finally opening in wide release this Friday, Jan. 12. I have to admit: I was totally unexcited about Clint Eastwood's schlocky-looking Flags of Our Fathers. But the companion piece, which tells the same story from the Japanese perspective, looks like a much better movie, and it's got lots of awards buzz to boot. From the looks of it, Letters From Iwo Jima is also a visually stunning film, with textures and colors that capture the era without looking contrived. Check out the trailer below.
