OK, so maybe I was a little too skeptical of this week's Project Runway. I wasn't sold on the premise of yet another sponsored challenge (this time by the WWE Divas), but now, I'm not sure what I was so worried about. The wackiness of the challenge gave the designers freedom to break loose — not quite avant-garde loose, but close — and create some of the most inventive outfits we've seen yet. Plus, I seriously underestimated the hilarity of Tim Gunn in a room full of Amazonian pro wrestlers.

The designers were given two days and $100 (to be spent at Spandex House, not Mood, heh) to create competition outfits for their chosen divas, who ranged from Rami's "all-American girl" to Sweet P's "classic sexpot, not the whore sexpot." I loved the moment when the designers first spotted the Divas throwing each other to the ground and making what Christian described as "sex moans" — Jillian barely made it in the doorway, Rami turned a little red, and Chris summed all up this way: "These ladies throwing each other, kicking each other, pulling each other's hair . . . It was pretty great, actually."
Right from the start, Sweet P seemed to be struggling with her idea — surprise! — while Rami and Ricky also seemed out of their element. Chris, on the other hand, seemed right at home. To hear how things went in the workroom and see a gallery of all the getups, just read more.
This challenge was so utterly ridiculous, it seemed to bring the designers out of their shells a bit. I particularly loved Sweet P arm-wrestling Christian, taunting him with "Come over here, you skinny-armed twit!" (I thought Sweet P would take him, but Christian is surprisingly — wait for it — fierce.) Another great moment came from the sewing room, when the designers picked names for their own WWE divas. Sweet P chose Spreadeagle, while Christian settled on "Ferocia-couturea." Of course, Christian also delivered several of his trademark smackdowns (mostly to Sweet P), among them "It looks like a craft project I would make in the first grade" and "It looks like tranny ice queens" — the latter of which actually prompted Sweet P to add a feather boa to her outfit, as if that would somehow tone down the tranny ice queenness of it all.
Onto the runway. I must say, the WWE Divas strutted their stuff better than some of this season's actual models.
With only six designers left, everyone got a runway critique this week from Heidi, Nina, Michael — who said he "felt like the Pope in a sex club" — and the boys of Heatherette. Here were the good, the bad, and the ugly:
The Good
- Christian — I honestly don't know how he has time to do all that he does in these challenges; he never seems rushed, and yet his work is some of the most detailed week after week. Granted, the leather chaps and tight lace top probably didn't take all that long, but he threw all that extra time into the ruffly yet tough jacket that has become a signature piece of his.
- Jillian — Jillian's near-catatonic personality still doesn't make for good television, but I have to give her credit for a turnaround here. I wasn't impressed with her Levi's outfit at all, but she seemed surprisingly comfortable working with electric blue spandex. Her strappy top and boy shorts fit her Diva's personality well, and the outfit seemed like it could move straight into the ring.
- Chris — Chris March wins! Granted, this challenge probably wasn't much of a stretch for him: Make an outfit that reflects his style using sparkles and spandex? Sparkles and spandex are his style! But he created a stylish look that also seemed like a believable wrestling costume, with tough black straps and an adorable sequin-lined leopard-print hoodie. Also, how great that he matched his model on the runway?
The Bad
- Rami — Without his normal fabrics and draping, and with the mandate to make something outlandish and flashy, Rami seemed paralyzed. He turned his blonde, big-haired model into a real-life Barbie, and not in the good way; the bubblegum pink spandex was simply cheesy.
- Sweet P — Sweet P had yet another of her weekly crises, going in a totally awful direction before some smack talk from Tim Gunn — and, in this case, her model, who hilariously pointed out that the outfit was so bland she could "buy it at the stripper store" — set her straight. This time, though, her mistake was not going crazy enough. I want Sweet P to stick around, but she's going to have to improve fast if she wants to make it through the next aufing.
The Ugly
- Ricky — As a lingerie designer, Ricky should have owned this challenge; instead he turned in a boring (and orange?) bathing suit that wasn't terribly flattering on his Diva, with a gold lame cover-up that was even worse. He complained early in the episode that even his win in the Levi's challenge hadn't seemed to get him respect from the other designers, and this is why. Bye, Ricky.
Were you shocked there were no tears at Ricky's goodbye? Did you think Chris' model looked like "a caged animal"? And what do you think is the astounding, amazing, every-designer's-dream field trip next week?

I was SOO shocked Ricky did not cry when he was eliminated...the one appropriate time he could've cried, he didn't. Weird.
Predictions for the top 3: Christian, Jillian, Rami
1I was def shocked Ricky didn't cry. But his time was up.
2I agreed with the judges 100% on every design.
My top 3 are : Christian, Rami and Jillian.
Who do I want to be the winner this season? Christian! for sure!
Team Jillian - good television or not, this girl's got it goin' on. Um, am I the only one that thought it was hilarious
watching Tim Gunn enter the wrestling ring? Freaking priceless. I believe he said something about
being Grandpa...
3I was waiting and waiting for Ricky to cry. He must have been so low and defeated if even he couldn't cry. That's kind of sad but I'm glad he's gone. That's been a long time coming. I think Sweet P will go next because she relies too much on Tim Gunn to direct her though the challenges. She doesn't have it. I hope the final three are Christian, Chris and Julian. I want Christian to win too!
4It almost seemed like Ricky knew he was going home & didn't seem to mind that much. Oh well, I am glad he is finally out! So happy that Chris won too..I really hope he makes it to Fashion Week, I think his show would be so much fun to watch! Can't wait to find out what next week is all about, can't even begin to guess!
5ricky's card was up. he never really showed that much talent...i loved Chris's, Christian's and Jillians. Rami annoys me because he makes the same thing all the time and Sweet P. love. her. BUT seriously she needs to step up to the plate and stop stressing out so easily.
6i'm so glad Ricky is finally gone!
is it going to be a top 3 or top 4 this season? was it last season that they decided to do a top 4 instead? i can't remember. i think Sweet P will probably go next week. then Jillian if they go with a top 3. so Chris, Christian, and Rami. i'm so stoked that Chris is doing well, especially since they got rid of him then brought him back when Jack had to leave. i don't think i could make a good prediction of who's gonna win it all yet.
7I was waiting for Ricky to cry, too! And I loved how they started the episode with him talking about how he needed to prove himself. LOL.
I really hope that Chris, Christian and Jillian are the final three. Rami still seems like a one-trick pony, and Sweet P's been far too uneven through the whole thing.
8I was so shocked he didn't cry. The one time he should have he doesn't. I think Sweet P is getting aufed next.
9Rami was COMPLETELY out of his element. And he made his model look like Drag Queen Barbie.
Jillian still bores me. (yawn)
Sweet P is probably gonna go next. She managed to squeak through this time..but not before Tim had to direct her (as usual).
Soooooo glad Ricky is finally gone. His win last week was a fluke. And suprising he couldn't put together something really nice for his model considering his background. Even more suprising he didn't cry.
Chris really needed this win! That hoodie was fantastic, I'm sure there's people out there daring enough to wear it outside the ring
I love Christian. His designs are incredible. Especially for such a youngin.
10I thought this episode was really trashy and low-brow. Not 'fashion-forward', if you will. I was really disappointed in PR.
In other news, I was SURE Sweet P was going to take Christian!
11Sweet P always has problems with her design and is constantly changing it- she just doesn't have the best ideas or something. I think she should have been gone this week, but then Ricky had it coming for a loooong time. Loved Jillian's and Chris' outfits!
12I think the top 3 will be Jillian, Christian, and Rami. I don't love Rami all that much...but the judges sure seem to think he is gold. I love Jillian's style, and that is what it comes down to...or at least is supposed to come down to. Christian's stuff is starting to look the same to me...so as much as I love his feisty personality - I am Team Jillian.
13I was so disappointed with this episode. I'm not interested in how well they can make trashy, stipper-like clothing. So tacky. That's not fashion!!
14I'm still liking Christian, Rami, and Jillian for the final showdown. I hope Christian wins it!!
I looooved Chris' and Jillian and Christian are of course my favs.
Rami's stuff is so zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
15i want a hoodie like chris did with the sparkle on the inside! hot!! seriously tho.. And i'm with carak- does anyone know if its top 3 or 4 this season that go to bryant park?? from the preview for next week it looks like they're doing top 4 again!
16LOVED this episode...not exactly "fashion" design....but fabulous none the less.
soooooo glad ricky is gone....he couldn't even get his models ethnicity right. according to one of my wrestling expert friends, despite ricky's "latina" vibe....diva layla is black and moroccan.
i hated rami's....i wish he'd go. he bores me.
meanwhile, christian comes with gems like "she's probably one of the fiercest peole i've ever met. and that's saying something, because i have met some fierce b!+ches in my day". i ADORE him. and i thought it was sweet he was trying to help sweet pea by telling her her garment was ugly, but not in a mean way. and he didn't want to share snaps with ricky.
bluesarahlou, i totally want the hoodie too...except maybe not bell sleeved. but loved the sparkle in the hood.
17christian is SUCH a piece of work he grows on me more and more every week.... b/c he's pretty crazy funny....."Ferocia-couturea" LOVE IT!!!!!
finally! bye, bye ricky....i think KLEENEX should MOST DEFINITELY contact him to make a project / design for them....it's the only medium he might be able to work in for obvious reasons!!!
18Completely shocked that Ricky didn't cry. I was waiting for some of the most ridiculous waterworks of the season. Way to break a streak. But I am SO SO SO glad that he's gone. I just can't believe that he stuck around this long.
19Rats! My Tivo didn't record it for some reason!
20Glad to know Cry Me A River Ricky is gone!
21TEAM CHRIS!!! i was so freaking happy when he won!!! still loved jillian's (gotta love booty shorts) and christian's, although i thought the lace under the chaps was a little much. i thought it would have been better to do a lace boyshort and have her have bare legs. but that jacket was amazing!!!
sick of rami. so boring. and sweet p, while i love her personality, just isn't up to par with the other designers.
thank god ricky and his ridiculous mesh hat are finally gone!!!
22I was wondering about the Bryant Park show as well. I read Entertainment Weekly's write-up of the episode and they said the PR show is tomorrow (Friday) morning. I guess you would be able find out how many (and who, I guess) "showed" by the afternoon. I don't want to know who makes it, so I will be staying away from that news!
23hahaha. i'm with everyone here. ricky not crying just didn't seem right. i LOVED chris' outfit. top three i think are probably christian, rami, and jillian. but, if christian wins, how much bigger can his ego get??
for the bryan park shows, i thought they always had at least 4 designers showing so you don't know who the top 3 are. (with the exception of last season)
24I'm glad Ricky's gone because I don't think he deserved to make it as far as he did, but I must say that I thought Rami's outfit was the worst.
Also, I get why Chris won. His was really good, but Jillian's was my favorite this week.
As for Christian, yes he's annoying, but he's had some of my favorite looks this season. I'll be sad if he doesn't make it to Bryant Park, but I'm willing to bet he probably will.
25This was a great episode. My only issue is that the judges were saying Rami should have done something Americana...but he is not American, and gingham probably wouldn't be a non-American's first thought of "All-American". In fact, I think from an international stance, Barbie probably is more "American" than picnics and apple pie.
26I think Sweet Pea is also way below the other designers talent-wise. I've hated most if not all of her designs. She should be eliminated.
Can we please have a challenge that's designing a normal runway outfit? I'd like to see what their personal styles are without the hindrance of having to make a garment out of Hershey's wrappers or spandex.
27I don't think Rami will make the top 3. He makes the same dress every week, or he completely chokes. I think it will be Christian, Jillian, and Chris. Sweet P out next, then Rami.
I can't stand him. I wish Chris would win, and even if he doesn't I hope this gave him exposure
and his business takes off.
28Oh yay! The Heatherette boys were judging? I'm defintely watching the rerun.
I think Christian and Jillian are going to be in the top 3. Not sure who the last one will be.
29Yay for Ricky's departure! He was just not that talented. I too was completely shocked he didn't cry!
Tiabia-I thought the same thing. Is there anything much more American than Barbie? That being said, it wasn't the best outfit, but I did think he got the spirit at least.
30FINALLY!!!!!
I was going to boycott if Ricky didn't go home.
My top 2 are Jillian and Christian, but I'm mixed about the 3rd. I thought that it would be Rami, but he's kind of one note, however, I don't feel Chris or Sweet P are really strong contenders. I do think Chris is stronger than Sweet P and have to admit Chris impresses me more with time, so if he made it top I'd understand and wouldn't mind.
31I agree with Tiabia. That was my first thought about Rami. He's not American, no wonder his first thought was Barbie.
What is all American anyway? I never understood that term.
32This was the only episode of PR my husband really enjoyed!
33good riddance RICKY! i was "going to die of barfiness" if he stayed on for one more episode.
34My favorite part. Rami's face is an inch away from his divas honey pot and he is all "you are so toned, do you work out everyday"
Sweet Peas outfit was horrible, I mean you have the reigning WWE diva and she Loves to unrobe and pose like a dorkus and you make her a sleevless holographic shiny mess that looked like it belonged on the 80% off rack after halloween. I love that her diva says "i could get this top and these boy shorts at any stripper store" good thing she is up on top stripper fashions or else sweet pea wouldnt have known to tweak it a bit.
35Lula29, I think Tim Gunn (or maybe it was Michael Kors actually) said something about "Americana" which ... well, I can't define. someone help me out. It's like, traditional things that define America/American history. I would have pictured his model in something that maybe had a hint of gingham, maybe a little lace trim ... I'm actually picturing Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz which is strange. I don't know why I think that would have worked but, if he had gone in a totally different direction and added some of these flourishes and themes while still making it bright and sexy, I think he would have done much better. Maybe he could have even done an American flag theme. That is sounding so tacky, I know. She probably would have looked more like an American Gladiator in that case. I don't know! I'm not a fashion designer, but Rami's was hideous. I love how he was STILL draping and ruching with spandex.
36I love Ricky! Granted, his clothes were never that great, but something about his absurdly vulnerable lip quiver warmed my heart. I was even happy when he won the Levi challenge, even though I didn't love his dress (I thought Christian would win). Ricky is so sweet, and he was a nice change from a lot of the other designers' nastiness.
37I just loved the fact that Tim got to say diva so much this episode! LOVED IT!
38Michael Kors is having some good one-liners this season, I loved last episode when Heidi said something about all of them wanting to wear one of the dresses, and Michael says- with the right shoes. That man is so adorable.
39i HATE it that christian always has great designs because hes the rudest most arrogant shrimp..i cant stand that "thing" blekh
40this episode cracked me up- it really did. i have to say- those girls totally worked the runway, they definitely were fun to watch. my picks for the final would be chris, christian, and jillian. jillian bores me but she does a good job. christian is a pain in the butt but he's talented and he has some great one liners and chris's personality is the best- even if his creations are a bit costume-y!
41I totaly agree megin1022!
42I think Christian is very talented and is the likely winner, although I can't STAND his horrid, demeaning attitude. I think Chris has a great personality, and his designs impress me more each week. I've seen tremendous improvement. Jillian is a great designer, but she really needs to budget her time more efficiently.
I think Ricky's "out-ting" was long overdue.
My predictions for the Final 3 are: Rami, Jilian, and Christian. But there is a part of me that wishes an underdog like Chris would get in the finals (he's such a teddy bear!). Hey, maybe they'll pick a Final 4 just like last season?
43Actually guys, the greatest moment in this episode was Chris walking into Spandex House and saying, "Do you guys still have that velvet green leopard?"
ROFL
44Chris' outfit was totally fierce!
45the hoodie was a nice touch.
Predictions for the top 3: Christian, Jillian, Rami
Sumbum, I completely agree. I've thought for a while that these 3 would be it! That would be fierce. lol
My friend says that Christian reminds him of Mango, the Chris Kattan SNL character. I can't look at him the same way anymore.
46I'm so tired of Rami saying "Well this is *not* my personal style..." at all the wacky challenges. If he's not interested in doing anything besides the same exact dress every time, then maybe he shouldn't have signed up for a gimmicky *challenge* show like PR!
47Honestly, out of the designers that are still there, I hope it's Christian, Chris and Jillian in the final 3. Not Rami, even though he will probably get it. But I'm soo bored with him. In the beginning I thought he was great, and I couldn't wait to see his 12 pieces if he made it to Fashion Week. But I don't really care about him anymore.
48Happiness doesnt even begin to describe how I feel about Ricky finally going home. Good riddance.
49I am happy to see Ricky go. His little train engineer's hat was really getting on my nerves.
50From the trailers for next episode, I think they're eliminating two people next week, so I assume that means they only sent three to Bryant Park. I'd like to see Jillian go; I like her. I'd also like to see Chris go because I'm always a fan of the underdog. As much as I dislike "his royal fierceness," I have a feeling Christian will be in the final three too. Lindaloo, I LOL when you mentioned Mango, it's so true. I just to take clippers to his head while he sleeps! Although his designs have gotten better, I can't forget the hideous thing he made for the SJP/Bitten episode and the judges commented that he was just going to do what he wanted to do. I think he's extremely arrogant and I don't like that!
