I love checking out the results of the twice-yearly TV critics' polls, which help track which TV shows are on the rise and which, well, aren't in the eyes of critics around the country. The latest poll, which covers summer shows and the start of the current TV season, was just released, and ABC's Pushing Daisies made its first appearance on the list in the No. 1 spot.
Another new show, Mad Men, finished second, while Dexter ended up in third. Heroes showed signs of its rough fall, plunging from No. 6 in the last poll to No. 25 in this one. The Office and Friday Night Lights also stumbled a bit, but both stayed in the top 10 — and House made one of the biggest leaps forward, jumping from No. 15 to No. 7.
On the worst side, it probably isn't a surprise that Cavemen topped the list, with Viva Laughlin — which only aired two episodes — coming in at No. 2.
The most interesting to me: One show made appearances on both the best and worst lists. Want to know what it is, plus see the top 10 best and worst? Just read more.
Critics seem to be utterly divided about Dirty Sexy Money. It was the only show to be considered among the best and the worst, ranking at No. 15 on the best list and tying for No. 7 among the worst.
You can check out the full list here, and here are the top 10 best and worst:

i've never seen pushing daisies--though i definitely plan on it as soon as it's released to dvd--but it's obvious why cavemen would be at the bottom. dumb dumb dumb show. initially i liked the caveman approach for geico insurance but then it got old very fast and then to see a tv show made with cavemen...dumb.
1Friday Night Lights, Mad Men, Dexter, Damages--all in the top 10. Yes!
2Where was Gossip Girl? I thought that would be high.
3Bones?
4Why wasn't Gossip Girl in that list? It wasn't even one of the top 25.
5I love Bones. Pushing Daisies is great and I hope it comes back soon!
As for cavemen, it was really dumb. I think they should give a show to the Comcast turtles!
6I love Dirty Sexy Money! I want this strike to end so I can see the Darlings again.
7It is nice to know that an amazing show like Pushing Daises is getting the acclaim it deserves. Now...if only this strike would end so we can have our fabulous shows back...
8Awww... poor Cavemen. I was horrified initially to see that this would be turned into a television show, but I have to say after watching an episode or two I changed my tune. It was really well written and funny. Did anyone see the pinkberry episode? Funnnnneeeey...
9I love DSM! It doesn't suprise me people are mixed about that show...I really love it cause Peter Krause is on it
And Carpoolers is suprisingly funny. There hasn't been an episode I haven't laughed at.
10I pretty much agree with everything other than Kid Nation. I enjoyed the show, and the few other people I've talked to who've actually watched it would agree. I know it brings some moral issues into question, but that aside, it was an interesting social study and entertaining too.
11No way! Dirty Sexy Money is really good!
12I absolutely love Pushing Daisies. It is unlike any other show I've seen on tv! I hope it comes back whenever the writer's strike ends, it definitely was entertaining!
13I love the show Pushing Daisies! Lee Pace is wonderful as Ned.
14ARG!! Why won't anyone give Cane some respect? It's an awesome show with such talented actors and the storylines are so great. cbs.com has episodes online, check it out please! It's such a wonderful show, it really deserves to be renewed for another a season and get more attention than cbs has been giving it.
15I love Pushing Daisies! Ned and Chuck are so cute
16i sew and love all the shows from the best list , i wish that Californication is in a more high place.
17about the worst list i haven't watch anything from that list , only Carpoolers - who sucks.
Yay! I agree with Pushing Daisies as #1. It is original and fun! Plus Lee Pace is wonderful.
18A lot of other shows (ahem Gossip Girl) are just the same plot reworked. That being said, I enjoy Gossip Girl and would like to see it on the list; along with Cashmere Mafia even though its just a reworked SatC!
Pushing Dasies is ok but definitely NOT #1!
19Pushing Daisies is excellent, I love it. Barry Sonnenfeld always does top work. Well worth a look.
20Dirty Sexy Money is on the worst list? Please!
21I love Pushing Daisies, so I'm glad it's #1.
22WTF is up with Caveman? I was surprised they would even air a stupid show like that. Considering how selective networks are, I was shocked to see that kind of crap on tv
Pushing Daisies is the best new show to come out in years, so YAY for the #1 spot!
23YES! I love love love love love Pushing Daisies. It is an adorable show with great actors, great writing, funny storylines- I could go on forever. I'm in agreement with the Best Show. It rocks!
24I agree!
25the only one on the worst shows list that i actually like is "private practice"....it's a guilty pleasure...so i understand why others don't like it...
26MsCatch22: I may be one of the only other watchers of "Cavemen" who didn't abhor it. The Pinkberry episode was quite funny. Oh well. Seems we're gonna lose on this one!
27I loved Big Shots.
It was great to see Michael V on TV again.
28I agree Melissa Rae, I LOVE Big Shots!!!! Michael V is hot and I even like Chris Titus in this one...Like Sex and the City for men.
And I also LOVE Men in Trees, but I guess better to be on no list than the worst list, huh???
Hmmm, no mention of Rock of Love with Bret Michaels???
29john from cincinnati was Definitely the worst show EVER!!! Didn't understand it at all! I LOVE pushing daisies! But I liked carpoolers too I thought it was funny!
30Dexter should be nr 1!!!
I love Dexter.
31Pushing Daises def deserves the win there!
32I'm so glad Pushing Daisies got #1 ... i tried so hard to convince people how good of a show it was and this will certainly help! I miss it ... yay for FNL too!
33K Ville is a great show! But, what else can you expect can we expect from critics? They don't know what real tv viewers like.
34I like Pushing Daisies, but don't think it is THE best. I would put Dexter, FNL, and 30 Rock above it. Actually, I would put The Wire at #1 on the best list. It blows my mind that it didn't even make the list.
35I thought Cavemen was a LOT better than expected. Definitely does not deserve to be #1 worst.
Love Dexter and House. Glad they're both in the top ten, yay!
36emmytee — I thought the same thing about The Wire, but I think it's only off the list because the show only covers July-December 2007 and The Wire wasn't on then. I bet it will turn up on the poll in the spring.
37K-Ville is a ratings failure, so it doesn't seem that most regular people really like it. Don't jump on the critics simply because there's a discrepancy.
38Pushing daisies is the best I will by it when it comes on DVD. As for the worst list I agree. A little bummed about big shots mostly because I liked see Christopher Titus again.
39Dexter is definitely one of the best shows on Television, and I think it's going to transition pretty well to CBS. Seems they had already been filming clean versions of episodes, so they must have known this was a possibility. Good news for all involved.
I'm going to get my girlfriend to start watching.
40Dang...I think the Office shouldu've been #1. I love that show..
