After seeing the just-announced lineup of films showing at the South by Southwest festival this year, I'm salivating. There are some movies premiering at SXSW that I've been patiently awaiting for what feels like forever, like Run, Fat Boy, Run with Simon Pegg and Hank Azaria. Then there are others that I'd just love to see before they are actually released, like Forgetting Sarah Marshall (later opening April 18), the Kevin Spacey casino movie 21 (opening March 28) and Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (April 25).
What's really putting me over the edge is that there are Sundance titles here that I never got into and desperately wanted to see, like the adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's Choke, the high school noir film The Assassination of a High School President and the documentary Young@Heart.
The festival takes place March 7-15 in Austin, Texas. What about you? Do you live close enough — or are you willing to make a trek — to see some of these films at SXSW? And are you chomping at the bit as much as I am?

I live here in Austin. Lineup looks ok, but there's nothing more annoying to Austinites than celebrities coming and trying to turn it into the new Hollywood. Ugh.
1I live in Austin as well, and while I would LOVE to go to SWSX it's just not in the budget for a college kid like me. One of my friends is volunteering for the festival though, so hopefully she'll get to see some of the events.
2I live in Austin and would love to see as many films as I can, but the high costs might prevent that...
3boo! I go to MIT and I am so disappointed with how "21" looks. They've completely "hollywood-ized" the story to death and it resembles nothing of the true story. Also, and this is to be expected, but nobody at MIT looks as good as Kate Bosworth and the other actors they chose to play MIT students!
4All about some Simon Pegg. Also, I cannot wait until Harold and Kumar. Unfortunately, I don't like close enough to make this happen, but sounds fun.
5yeah, i live in austin too, but the cost is definitely a hindrance.
6Young@Heart is a must see! It was one of the last films I got to see at Sundance and I'm so glad I fit it in. Very funny and moving.
7Where can I find more info on how to go and what is offered?
8moss1080, you can find out information about the festival on the SXSW webpage. You can be directed to this page by clicking here.
9i would love to attend but that won't happen this year i'm afraid. i love film festivals.
10I live in Austin, but it's such a pain to get in to SXSW. I wouldn't mind going to see one of those movies though.
11i LOVE simon pegg. Hot fuzz is one of my fave movies!!
