Ever wonder what would happen if Hollywood went all Freaky Friday, and your favorite writers from The Office [1] had to write an episode of, say, Gossip Girl [2] instead? New York Magazine [3] decided to find out, asking striking writers to script the end to another show's TV season [4] — with sometimes hilarious, often unexpected results.
The Office writers took on Friday Night Lights [5], making sure to require that the Dillon Panthers win each of their final games by an incredibly close margin. Writers from The Simpsons [6] imagined what would happen if the plague struck Dunder Mifflin, and a Dexter [7] writer created a Grey's Anatomy [8] world where Cristina sleeps with George purely to satisfy her competitive nature.
All four of the full scenes — also including the Ugly Betty [9] writers reinventing Gossip Girl's Upper East Side — are worth reading, but I have to give special props to the writers from The Daily Show [10], who took on 13 different shows [11] including CSI and Cavemen. My favorite, on Lost [12]: "It turns out the island is actually a peninsula. Boy, are they embarrassed."
