Admittedly, I've mostly been interested in M. Night Shyamalan's next project The Happening because Zooey Deschanel is in it, and I'll pay attention to most anything Zooey does. Shyamalan, on the other hand, is sometimes great and sometimes one of my least favorite filmmakers in the world. Thus, I've been awaiting more information on The Happening with some degree of wariness.
Today we've gotten a first glimpse at The Happening and it's pretty creepy, though not too descriptive. We find out that something is plaguing the citizens of New York, making them suddenly kill themselves. From the plot description we learn that one family goes on the run from this "natural crisis."
The Happening opens June 13. To watch the teaser trailer, read more.

Creepy, but looks kiind of interesting, hopefully it wont suck
1hmmm, i hope i like this one, unlike the village! but i did enjoy signs.
2Ooo, can't wait. I love Zooey!
3I sooo want to watch this! Mark is HOT and I LOVE Zooey!
4I love Zooey - but Shyamalan lost my vote with The Village and Lady in the Water. I think this is one I'll wait for on DVD or even for the HBO premiere.
5Hey, I loved The Village! I think people are disappointed by some of his movies because they expect big horror and gore elements, and the point of them is to make you think not scare the crap out of you. I think Night is brilliant. This movie looks good!
6It looks interesting enough, I guess. And yeah, The Village isn't all that bad. Signs, on the other hand...
7yep... definitely don't want to see it. i can't stand images of suicide in the slightest.
8I'm a fan of The Village too!! It was actually my favorite of all his movies. This one looks pretty interesting.
9I'm DYING to see this...I am a huge huge huge M. Night Shamalayan fan. I love all of his movies.
Not to mention, I adore Zooey.
I can't wait!!!
10THis looks creepy - are all those people killing themselves?
11I'm intrigued.....
12Sweet! I really like his films, especially The Village, which in my opinion is one of the best romantic movies ever made. The only one I didn't care much for was Signs, but that was because the "twist" seemed totally obvious from the first moment I saw the trailer for it. I wish I hadn't guessed that, I love a good twisty flick.
13I loved all his movies. I hope it mainly takes place in Philadelphia like all his others. I am a Philly girl and would hate it if he moved his stories out of the city.
14Well since he moved out of Philly to New York seems like he's moved his new film there also.
I used to see all of his films but lets face it, most would agree his great one was The Sixth Sense. After that I saw Unbreakable which was just ok. Signs, which eh pretty good. The Village another one I thought was just OK. Then after that I was like NO MORE your not getting me to watch another overhyped film Mr. Night! So when everyone else saw Lady in the Water and hated it, I was like haha you didn't fool me this time! So I think I may end up sitting out on this one also, lol.
15Love M. Night, love Zooey, love Mark. I can't wait!
16I will definitely watch.
17The title is The Happening. Does anyone else think that's funny?
Judging by the last few M. Night movies, I think this one will have to wait until it comes out on DVD.
18I'm pretty sure he filmed some of this movie around the Philly area. I remember last summer they were filming near Valley Forge Park.
19Yayyyyyy!!! M. Night is brilliant. I can't wait.
20omg, love shyamalan.....can't wait to see this!!
21Buzz, I couldn't agree with you more. Sometimes I think he's great, and other times I feel like he is one of the most blatantly manipulative directors, and that his whole agenda is to show everyone how much cleverer he is than his audience. I loved Sixth Sense and Signs (until they made the mistake of showing the whole alien up close) and the Village I am still undecided about. I like his concepts but something about his movies sometimes leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
22He does always cast good actors though. I almost hyperventilated in the theater when Joaquin was stabbed in the Village!
23I loved the Village. It is one of my favorite movies. I can't wait to see this one!
24I loved the Sixth Sense, and the Villiage was ok but left me slightly disappointed. Usually I lose interest in his movies or either the twist just doesn't cut it and ends up being disappointing.. This one looks somewhat promising but seems kind of like Stephen King's The Stand.. one of those apocolyptic, few remaining survivors kinda movie.
25I love M. Night. I was one of few people who actually loved Lady in the Water, maybe because I love folk tales and the cast was amazing.
I cant wait to see this!!!
26caterpillar, i loved lady in the water too!!!
27hmm, clip is gone
28i'm a sucker for his movies
29I always fall for these dang movies but end up being a little upset after watching... he has a brilliant ind bu there are just some things that are quite doubtful about his movies.
30i absolutely love zooey, so i'll definitely watch. i hope this is a good movie. i think i've enjoyed all of his movies that i've seen, though, unlike some of you. still haven't seen "lady in the water". i really liked "the village", but it seems like most people i talk to did not.
31movies no longer available
but I can't wait to catch a glimpse... his movies are weird but so
