There was a time during my teenage years, right after my hometown cable provider started carrying the Game Show Network, when I was hopelessly devoted to reruns of Match Game from the '70s. From Brett Somers' goofy glasses to the sexual innuendo I was just beginning to understand to every single thing about Charles Nelson Reilly, I thought the show was hilariously perfect.
It's become such an enduring classic in my mind, in fact, that I'm a little appalled at this report that the American Idol producers want to revive the show. As far as I'm concerned, there's no way that Match Game could work today, when the C-list celebrities who might sign up for the panel aren't that interesting and almost every TV taboo has been broken.
I know there's a general malaise about remakes these days — from the new versions of Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street to the Efron-ized version of Footloose — but I want to know about the ones that really get under your skin. Which projects are so close to your heart that you would truly scream, cry, pull your hair out, and picket the studios if they were remade?

Robe Di Firenze
Luella
Tory Burch
The Wizard of Oz-I could see them remaking this movie with one of the Fanning's in it.It's a classic and shouldn't be messed with.
The Breakfast Club
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
A Christmas Story
Clueless
Some like it Hot
Adventures in Babysitting-I heard Raven and Miley Cyrus are trying to get a remake of this movie made.I hope it's not true.
To Kill a Mockingbird
Steel Magnolias
Dirty Dancing-I know they had the Havana Nights but I don't think that was a remake.
Casablanca
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Mary Poppins
The Princess Bride
A Clockwork Orange
The Goonies
I'm sure there are more. There are so many good movies out there that shouldn't be remade.
1STAND BY ME. very much a classic,
2and The Breakfast Club,
A Christmas Story
I forgot Sex and the City and Friends. No one could replace the original casts.
3breakfast at tiffany's
4the breakfast club
pretty in pink
sixteen candles
edward scissorhands

5legally blonde
I know it's already been mentioned, but it won't hurt to say it one more time
The
Wizard of Oz, noone should ever touch that movie.
Plus Gone With the Wind & It's A Wonderful Life
6The Breakfast Club & The Wonder Years
7Oh man. I could stay up all night thinking about this. I definitely agree with Wizard of Oz though. And Forrest Gump. There is only one Forrest, Forrest Gump.
8A ha! Pulp Fiction! You couldn't remake that one!
9i know this one was kinda sucky but dazed and confused, i can totally see mtv trying to do this one over, it wasnt that good of a movie, but it'd be a shame to see them try to re-do it
10I think some of the ones that have been remade and I consider a disaster is the Bionic Woman and Knight Rider. Sorry but Knight Rider looks sooo cheesy already and I could just SCREAM!!! How on Earth did they manage to make a car, KITT, thats 20 years old look more futuristic than this new mustang crap!
Other ones that need to be left alone is:
A-Team
11The Incredible Hulk
I Dream of Genie
Tom & Jerry
Smurfs
He-Man
She-Ra
Jem...
To Kill A Mockingbird
12Roman Holiday
Star Wars and the Wizard of OZ.
13Oh, and for TV...I Love Lucy. You couldn't have that show without Lucille Ball.
14If Hollywood ever messes up A Better Tomorrow, someone better watch out.
15I agree...no one should touch Gone With the Wind. Hmmm and one of my favorite movies with Greer Garson called _Random Harvest_
16Some Like It Hot - I hope they never re-create this amazing film.
17To Kill A Mockingbird
Little Miss Sunshine
Titanic
The Breakfast Club
Pretty In Pink
Fright Night
Pleasantville
10 Things I Hate About You
Election
Edward Scissorhands
Dirty Dancing (they made a horrible sequal in 2004 however I hope they never remake it.
And The Shows I Hope They Never Remake Because The Original Is Best:
Joan of Arcadia (if they used the original stars I'll watch a remake)
18Friends
Three's Company
What's That Line (game show)
Match Game (classic)
All In The Family
Sanford & Son
Full House
Tucker (I think that is the name, it was a 90's disney show)
All That (the 95-99' years were best)
Fresh Prince
Gilmore Girls
It's A Wonderful Life is a film the studios should NEVER remake. the original is beautiful.
19Any Capra film
20Roman Holiday! (I love that film so much, it just wouldn't be the same without the actors)
I think anytime I hear that they're remaking a show for American audiences. For example Spaced (craziness), Kath & Kim and The IT Crowd. What's wrong with American audiences that they can't just appreciate the original version and leave it at that?
21reading through what people have already mentioned...I'm sad to say that remakes are in the works for a lot of them...
22Well guys, isn't The Wiz kind of a remake of The Wizard of Oz already?
23Saranightly - you're right about the Wiz. And coincidentally I only just realized that it was directed by Sidney Lumet (whose first film, 12 Angry Men was remade sometime in the 90s I think, and I was very upset about that.) Anyway - I have to say, that Casablanca and Gone with the Wind are my top 2 that should never ever be considered for a remake. But especially Gone with the Wind. Don't even try it.
hotsutff - "Jem" as in Jem and the Holograms? Actually, it would rock my world if they did a movie of Jem and the Holograms, ridiculous as it sounds. But it would be tricky ground. If they decided to cast someone like say, Lindsay Lohan, I'd be pissed.
24this would be awful if they remade it! NO NO NO!
25Casablanca and Gone with the Wind are definitely on the do not remake list!
26friends
27full house
little miss sunshine
the parent trap (yes---i know the lindsay lohan version IS a remake---but it's one of my fave movies and to re-remake it would destroy a piece of my childhood)
pay it forward
stand by me
PRINCESS BRIDE!
